By the way, I will be back in California this summer. Awesome! Fancy anotherd death-defying midnight ride around the dodgy parts of downtown LA?

Maybe we'll see better hookers! The ones from last time looked rather shabby.

What do all you people do with all your money? If you're all spending virtually nothing on food or rent, it must be going somewhere. How the hell much money do you make if your mortgage is 2000 a month ? How much are people saving (which they should be doing) is what I want to know... What Jens and Southall are spending on rent is food is too much for the Jangles. I save over a thousand dollars a month, which doesn't include 401k.

I'm glad other people spend normal amounts of money on food. I thought I was some sort of freak. Here is a list of some of the things I buy every week: Bananas: $3/week Milk: $3/week Juice: $3.50/week Bread: $3.00/week Lettuce: $5.00/week Yogurt: $7/week Cereal: $4/week Cereal Bars for work: $4/week Dried pineapple: $3/week Soup/Ramen Noodles: $10 etc.,etc. =$45.50 That doesn't even include stuff like meat, peanut butter, jelly, eggs, rice, potatos, onions, etc., etc., etc. How on earth can you spend less than $200/month on food? What Jens and Southall are spending on rent is food is too much for the Jangles. I save over a thousand dollars a month, which doesn't include 401k. How the hell much money do you make being able to save $1,000 a month? I live paycheck to paycheck with school loans, food, taxes, gas, bills taking up about 95% of all my money every month. I don't live fancy or have rent, car, etc. payments. -Nate

Well, I think life is going to get hit me when I am out in the real world. I think I have a few hundred saved. Thats it. But I haven't worked in four years (aside from for my dads comapny over winter break, and I spent most of that ) I imagine I will live at home for at least the first year after college, then hopefully i will make enough to be able to support myself, but who knows....?

I think I have a few hundred saved. That's more than most people. I usually only save my tax refund, which went bye bye when I was laid off for three months. Jangly: are you one of those computer geeks that has such a good job because of your computer skills that you can actually buy $500 replica LotR swords? -Nate

What do all you people do with all your money? If you're all spending virtually nothing on food or rent, it must be going somewhere. That's an easy one. Scores. Scores. Limited edition scores, expanded edition scores, newly-released scores, never-before released scores. Oh, so many scores. ;D I'm afraid to count how much money goes towards scores. Honestly, I've cut back. Where else is my money going? A lot of it goes towards paying down student loan debt. The interest rate has dropped twice, so I'm actually saving some money, but I still want to eliminate my student loans. By next year, I should have reduced them by 50 %. I also have to start doing the whole retirement savings thing, especiallly since my job doesn't have a 401K or IRA plan. An IRA plan is about 4,000 a year. I keep saying I'm going to start one... So money will be going there. It's not like I can depend on Social Security. I wonder when they will raise the tax rate for that. I only get health insurance (dental not included) at work. I'm in good health, so this is a little bit useless right now... and those darn co-payments are high. One of co-workers had to go the dentist last year. Yikes, the costs for one tooth! That reminds me that I have to schedule the yearly Eye exam thing and get a new prescription by the summer. Money goes quickly. Then I give $100 mo. to my high school. Then there's the money I spend on transportation costs. Damn, stuff adds up. I also try save a lot. I try to save at least 800 a month, but this is easy to do right now since I'm not paying much for rent...These "savings" normally just go towards reducing my student lon debt. Anyway, I find it's easier to do a short-term cd, so that I won't be tempted to spend. How much are people saving (which they should be doing) is what I want to know... What Jens and Southall are spending on rent is food is too much for the Jangles. I save over a thousand dollars a month, which doesn't include 401k. What are you saving for Jangles? And how are you saving? supposedly the governator passed a bill that is going send a free $300 to everybody sometime this year? Does anyone else in CA know what I'm talking about? Don't you have to be working in order to get the "free" money. Oh, and the money isn't free. Tj, it's more of a tax rebate. I still have to do my taxes, but that stuff gets a little depressing.

So its only for people who report their taxes? Guess i might as well file even though I made about $300 in '07. and carlton, as far as i know htis is seperate from the usual tax returns where you get money back (i've never made enough/had enough taken out to do that, i don't think.)

How on earth can you spend less than $200/month on food? Well, when I was a young, poor student living in the big money-eating city of Los Angeles, I found that I could eat dinner for an ENTIRE MONTH for only $30 (i.e. Tontino's cheese pizzas!). Breakfast was whatever cereal was on sale and lunch was either a $1 Wendy's 1/4 double-stack or a self-made peanut butter and jelly sandwich. How about them apples? Wait...no...I couldn't afford any apples... -Brendan, saving pennies for his European Rampage '08

100 a month to your high school? ?? What the hell? And no Muckle, I don't buy LOTR replica swords. Right now I am not saving for anything specific. I have a savings account and a very large sum of money in a Wachovia CD. Mostly just emergency money, but one of these days I might go out and get that BMW I'll probably wait for this until my late thirties however when I am making a lot more. Muckle - now that I see you type that, I am more or less starting to see your point. However, I did live on 160 a month in college. I guess I really don't eat that much...Mostly I just bought meals for 10-20 bucks a month and other stuff like juice and what not was another 10-20 dollars.

I do make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, white rice, and eat ramen noodles, etc but I still can't keep the price down. I do a lot of taco bell though. Also, Totinos's gets recalled a lot. Anyway. I bought 1lb. of wildrice meatballs at the Cub deli yesterday: $6. Enought for three days. I add them to my ramen noodles. -Nate

I've never really heard of a monthly donation to an old high school...I would like to add an inquiry to Carlton. Most odd.
And I also tend to eat a LOT of Taco Bell. Perhaps the greatest fast food place ever. I could, probably, eat there every day and be happy.
