Lets say its worse than live free or die hard.there are parts of it that i loved, there are part of it that were ok and there are parts of it that or terrible don´t belong into indy.the legend of the crystal skull gets WAY to many expositions. It really feels forced or clunky, has not the gentle feeling from the older films where to pieces of the puzzle come together.also forced is the return of karen allen.she has no purpose other than being there for nastalgia, but she has some nice dialogues with indy.that whole alien arc in the movie....had a really bad taste.it culminates in the biggest CGI sequenz in indy history, but i didn´t like it.also some of the action/adventures scenes are way over-the-top, with no sense of real danger for anyone.i liked shia, he is lot of fun, and i liked cate blanchett, she is a smart villian and never gives up.but her end is predictable.john hurt and ray winstone are both completely wasted.the structure of the story is a really bad mess.the good thing-indy is indy like we love.

part2 indy acts and fights like he´s never been away.also good, the score.there are far more references to the previous score than on the cd, even in the action.i loved the jungle chase, but there is one horrible, horrible scene involving shia that really hurts.and the chase is 10mins long-nonstop music, the album version is an edited second half of it, even this is longer in the movie.there is some real cool old sounding part to the score, but most did not ended up on the album.the first half of jungle chase and a brief sequenz involving stairs is a perfect example how williams still can write linear structured action-music.not of cd, sorry.I give the movie 2,5 of 5.too much nonsense, and not much feeling.but its not PHANTOM MANACE bad, they really tried to make it good but 10 years of rewrites and delays left their marks.

Yavar people compare in to national treasure 2.there was one sequence with encoding a riddle that ended up being figuered out exact in the same way nic cage does it.the sequence i hate is definately Lucas fault.Think the stupid Tarzan scene in Return of the Jedi ten times dumber.UUUUUUUUUGHHHH!!!! i predict that jens will like narnia2 more than this.

and to add more dissapointment-the concorde reissues of the previous scores are just one disc each with part 4 as a box.propably not even expanded.

Seeing how incredibly forgiving you normally are of movies, Silliness, this is extremely disheartening news. I'll be seeing the midnight showing of it in precisely 25 hours, so I'll let you know my thoughts then.

Is there an official release date attached to said re-releases? I'm very anxious to get my hands on the long-since OOP Temple of Doom. I am sad to hear they'll still be incomplete, but it'll still be nice to have that middle score back in circulation. -Jockolantern

Saw it. Loved it. Too tired to go into detail now. But suffice to say that the aliens aren't lame like I thought they would be.

Spoilers. Duh. It was definitely fun enough to keep me awake from midnight until 2:00 a.m. when I saw it last night. My favorite part was the "family" dynamics between Marion, Indy and Mutt - when they were all interacting it was great. Other dialog lacked the punch of the other films....Indy felt too much like a softy at times and would have been better served to be more blunt. While the action was great, I'll agree with the sentiment that there never felt like there was any real danger. By the time I got to the waterfall scenes, I felt more like, "Oh, you wacky waterfalls...what fun!" and not "Holy waterfalls of doom!" like I should have. Mutt's theme is impressively written but it's too happy sounding. When it kicks in during the jungle chase sword fight it feels out of place and makes the film sound like it was made for 8 year olds. While the main Indy theme is also in a major key, its heroic arc has a much more appropriate feel than Mutt's theme which just gaily dances around. The ending would have been perfect had the crystal alien skeletons not all morphed into one real alien. The crystal alien skeletons were awesome...the real alien was definitely not awesome. The pacing of the film was great. Blanchett as the villain was wonderful. The opening action sequence was inspired with perfect placement of the ark (and the ark theme). Overall I would recommend the film with just a few reservations. -Brendan

This movie died for me the moment there were wacky gopher reaction shots during the most improbable series of goofy pratfalls and unfortunate mishaps ever to befall Indy.
George Lucas has one of the worst senses of humor I've ever encountered, and his grubby, greasy fingerprints are all over this disaster of a movie.

Well, I guess it's my turn to go against the grain a bit here.
I loved the movie. I loved it to pieces. Watching the movie, I got the same sense that I got the first time I watched each of the other films: pure exhilaration and joy. I don't know where it ranks next to the other films. As far as I'm concerned, there's "Raiders", and then there's everything else... but "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal" skull is far and away the best time I've had at a movie all year. Full thoughts later on...
Back at ya later

I'm afriad it's just so out there and over the top that I had a really hard time suspending my disbelief with this one, Clark.
To me, this has more in common with the Mummy and National Treasure movies than with classic Indy.
