So I've finally got an avatar up, but I see that it's not looking so great. How do I fix the pixelation? I've only got a very basic, standard edition Dell Image Expert program and I can't seem to get it to look any better. What should I do?

I recommend waiting until Jens comes in here, bitches about it, and fixes it for you. That's how I solve all my problems.

That's 1) a lovely picture and 2) quite a good way to do things. I had something like that in mind as well. Also, since Jens is in good hands now it's also considerably less dangerous to give pics away... ;D

My God man, is that a smurf? When did the smurfs ever play french horn? There is something disturbing about that avatar. Emily - very nice! Don't worry about a little pixelation, it's natural on a board like this. -Brendan

I never said it didn't make me happy, I just said it was disturbing...I like disturbing avatars. However, I do question the historical validity of a french horn playing smurf. ;D -Brendan

Well, there was a trumpet playing smurf, as far as I remember. So it is only natural that there could've been a french horn playing one as well. It's not like you saw the 24/7, who knows what they did in their free time? Unless you had the big brother channel and watched 24/7...
I like to disturb people... ;D

Check it out: See how you're now in the foreground thanks to my amazing background blurring skills. Also, the color's been changed a bit. Let me know what you think.

That's considerably better. Did you do that on the original pic?

Hey Hook - you can do that with mine too if you want, though I'm not sure Photoshop has any filter to remove the ugliness.
Why am I insulting myself?
Meh.

We are only talking about picture quality here. If you want to win a beauty contest... wrong place...

Thank you so much, Hook--I love it! With the new coloring I don't look like such a ghost anymore . And Brendan--looks like your chiding about avatars worked. People are adding or changing pictures left and right!

Actually if we two were the only contestants you'd win by a landslide.
