25.00 for Firefly? Yes, get it now! You won't get this much for your money for a while!

Serenity shouldn't be too expensive. It's just a simple movie DVD. You could always get a safety copy of Firefly and order Serenity with it. That'd be nuts. ;D

I will, but only if you buy (or rent... or borrow, really) the first season of Arrested Development. I've heard a lot about this show, but am afraid it'll feature the same clever dialogue along with the subpar performances of Buffy. That show would be enjoyable if it weren't for its quest to grab the teeny bop demographic or if some of the stars didn't look so silly when "acting". I'll give this one a chance. Because I give shows a chance. ;D

I got it partly because of your high praise for it, and also because it was only 20 bucks . I haven't started watching it yet, but I'll get around to it soon. In regards to Firefly, the price for the set periodically drops and fluctuates. I've had it in my cart at Amazon for awhile, and it's been as cheap as $19.86 in the past. Wal Mart occasionally has it on sale for 20 bucks too.

I also know a lot of people who used to watch them, and everybody admits there is just no comparison between those and Firefly. The good things are simmilar, but the storyline and acing is much better. As Whedon said, the fear of getting cancelled after every single show let them create amazing stuff. And I might check AD out. What is it about? And where can I get it cheap?

Hook... does Arrested Development get better as it goes on? I rented the first DVD from season one, and while I admit the show was good, it seemed like a Curb Your Enthusiasm knockoff to me. This is great for many, but I'm just not a Curb Your Enthusiasm fan.

I never really saw the interest in Firefly.
But I can watch Curb any time of the day.

The good things are simmilar, but the storyline and acing is much better. As Whedon said, the fear of getting cancelled after every single show let them create amazing stuff. I'll check it out then. It's a one-camera show (in the style of a documentary, though not acknowledged as one, unlike The Office) about a wealthy family that now has to deal with the patriarch's arrest and further investigation by the SEC. It distinguishes itself by presenting elaborate storylines, fast-paced and clever dialogue, rewards to the attentive viewer, and for having the lowest ratings for one of the most acclaimed comedies on television. I don't know wether or not you can get it cheap. I bought the two seasons on DVD from Amazon. Like I said, I suggest renting it or borrowing it (I don't want people spending their money needlessly on my account). Hook... does Arrested Development get better as it goes on? I rented the first DVD from season one, and while I admit the show was good, it seemed like a Curb Your Enthusiasm knockoff to me. This is great for many, but I'm just not a Curb Your Enthusiasm fan. I like Curb Your Enthusiasm, but that show is far more similar to Seinfeld (big surprise). Much of the humor there stems from discussions regarding the characters' behavioral quirks and neurosis. The beauty, to me, in AD is in the writing, the subtle delivery, the performances, all brought together by wonderful direction. Curb is far more improv than AD is (only David Cross improvises some of the dialogue). Does it get any better? I wouldn't say that. The show doesn't shift gears in quality, but it does become way more absurd, specially in this last season. Examples: Michael almost marries an MRF (mentally retarded female -- it's far more tasteful than it sounds), they all have a mock trial that is both a warm-up to the actual trial and Judge Reinhold's (the actor) new courtroom drama, which features band leader William Hung and his Hung Jury, Tobias falls ill after having 4,000 hair plugs put in and gives birth to a new disease (Graft vs. Host), Buster is hospitalized for his fake coma, the brothers travel to Iraq to negotiate GOB's release from prison (he's suspected of anti-americanism -- his new magic act is inspired in the bible and includes "the burning bush"), and Lucille mans the RMS Queen Mary. God, I love this show. ;D

You are from far away, so you're forgiven for not knowing and never reading my rants about the place I am in now. If the show was on TV it'd be in fucking German or Italian. The DVD rental stores rent stuff out for almost more than a DVD costs, so I have no idea why they are still in business. Wait - every time one store closes another one opens and closes down in 1 month, when another moron opens one again. Did I mention I live among morons? So renting is not an option. There's only borrowing left. Yeah, right. Borrowing... Did I ever mention I live among... oh, never mind. I'll keep my eyes open for discounted sets.

Just wanted to say that I think if Firefly had been able to get past 14 episodes even to a full SEASON I might consider it the best television program of all time. Certainly I'd probably consider it the best science fiction show (as it is Babylon 5 still holds that spot...but WOW if Firefly can do that much character development and hit its stride soooo early imagine where it could have gone if it'd even lasted THREE seasons like the original Star Trek....Serenity is not a good enough consolation; that plotline really needed to develop over the course of a series...especially the Simon/Kaylee romance, yeesh).
