If memory serves, Brendan and Chris Tilton and I went for chinese food when they came up to my house (PF Chang's I think), and Brendan had real trouble with the menu there - nothing with chilli, nothing overtly spicy. I only found out about the existance of 'supertasters' during that meal, but having known Brendan for as long as I have now, it all makes sense.

I actually grew rather averse to sweet cereals a couple years ago; loved them as a kid, but I really can't take them except as a rare treat nowadays. Thus, I rotate between my three favorite main cereals: Cheerios, Corn Chex and Raisin Nut Bran. Mmmmmmmm-mmm. Good eats.

Kashi (which may or may not be in the organic isle depending on your store) has some good, fairly sweet cereals that are both alittle healthy and alittle naughty. Try any of the ones with fruit. I'm a fan of the one with Strawberries, as you think it's healthy until you realize the flakes have a slight sugar coating to them.
Avoid Flax Seed, Honey and Nuts though. WEIRD taste.

Honey Bunches of Oats. Especially Cinnamon or Strawberry varieties. Coincidently, that's what I'm eating right this moment...however, mine are the "Vanilla Honey Bunches of Oats" variety. I really don't like how small and crumbly they are though. I like my cereal pieces to be at least as big as a cheerio on average (that rules out Rice Krispies). Raisin Bran usually does okay with flake size, but these Bunches of Oats are annoying. I don't think I'll try these again... Jon, I think I would have a hard time with the psychedelic things the Fruity Pebbles would do with the milk...ew. Interaction with the milk is another big factor in what's good. In that respect, Cheerios is king, especially Honey Nut Cheerios - it lightly interacts with the milk, but only to make it a bit sweeter. No dramatic color-change or anything. Carlton, I use 1% milk, though sometimes will get 2% if I feel like I haven't been getting enough fat lately. Jonathan, I do like the flavored Frosted Mini-Wheats, but I usually get the Cinnamon Streusel kind....but then again, I really don't like the word "Streusel" - it always looks like it's spelled wrong. Like it should be "Stroosal". To pronounce the "eu" in it, my lips have to make a motion that makes me uncomfortable to say it in front of people. Jocko, I used to love Rice Chex as a kid...I may return there after my box of Honey Bunches of Oats is gone. Or maybe Kix....anyone remember Kix? Thanks for the suggestions everyone! -Brendan

Loved it as a kid and I still like it, although it does get soggy too quickly for my liking. If you don't crunch through those little balls fast enough, they'll turn into a squishy, gooey mush.

I want to reply in 3 different threads: 1) this one (for obvious reasons), 2) the comedy/humor thread (because I find this cereal dicussion hilarious), and 3) the Seinfeld thread (because Brendan's cereal rants remind me of something that would be in a Seinfeld episode, esp. not liking a cereal because of its color-changing effects on the milk, or because its name is hard to pronounce).
BTW, I haven't had cereal for 3 days now and am starting to miss it....
Oh, and Crispix is also good!

Same with me, I have no issue with SALTY or SUGARY though, in fact, I tend to prefer such things.

I haven't eaten cereal in a long time, though I do like it. I used to love to occasionally get COUNT CHOCULA, since I love chocolate, and wasn't allowed to have overly sugary cereals when I was a kid (pretty much just ate plain CHEREOS). I was kind of thankful for that though actually. In LA, there's a Cereal Bar that I've always wanted to try out. You can have them mix and match any kind of cereal, on top of putting a variety of toppings. www.jujucerealbar.com/Lately, I've been making my own homemade Egg McMuffins with www.amazon.com/Back-Basics-TEM500-Muffin-2-Slice/dp/B000B18P96. YUM!

That's neat, Chris! Does it cook bacon/sausage too?

That's neat, Chris! Does it cook bacon/sausage too? No. It toasts, poaches an egg, and warms a small piece of meat, like canadian bacon or a slice of ham. Won't cook uncooked sausage or bacon though.
