What breakfast cereal does everyone eat?
I tire of breakfast cereal pretty quickly and find myself in the grocery store aisle staring blankly at all the choices. The sweet, tasty cereals with chocolatey or marshmellow things leave me feeling empty within an hour of eating it. But the 'wholesome' ones are often like eating raw hay.
So what are your favorites?

Don't really eat cereal for breakfast very often. I do love Cinammon Toast Crunch.

I used to be a big fan, but I find it gets soggy too quickly and then is all mushy in the milk. Also, for some reason I always associate MMUK poster C. Hook with the guy: My twisted mind has even gone so far as to think that Cap'n Crunch's real name is also Alonso...

Do your hypersensitive tastebuds even *allow* you to eat chocolatey or marshmellowy things, Brendan?

I don't use milk. ever.
And the Cap'n certainly doesn't need it. Very tasty dry.

Do your hypersensitive tastebuds even *allow* you to eat chocolatey or marshmellowy things, Brendan? Yes, definitely. Even though I am a supertaster, sugary things like chocolate and marshmallows are well within the types of food my heightened taste buds will allow. However, since I'm also a little compulsive, I have a hard time with marshmallow cereals because I often find the ratio of oat-to-marshmallow is too high. Many spoonfulls contain an almost 1-to-1 ratio whereas I prefer a more conservative ratio of 2 marshmallow pieces per 6 oat pieces in each spoonful.

Special K Red Berries! It's sweet but not overly so, doesn't taste like raw hay, doesn't get soggy in milk, and doesn't make the milk taste nasty after all the cereal is gone!

What flavor are the berries? Are they actual berries of some sort? Raspberries? Are they dried berries? What kind of texture are they? If they were like raisins I could probably do it. I wouldn't texturally be able to handle juicy berries... -Brendan

The milk makes them a little soft, but still firm - so not crunchy, but also not juicy like fresh strawberries. And not as chewy as raisins. But if you don't like the berries, you can go with regular Special K instead.

I am cracking up at Brendan's food sensitivities. I thought I was a picky eater! I gotta show my parents the "Supertaster" and tell them they got off easy!

Honey Bunches of Oats. Especially Cinnamon or Strawberry varieties. I miss the defunct Banana but Peach is still around for an occasional change of pace. Yavar

Brendan, you seem to know what I like... you should become my personal chef. ;D You don't eat vegetables right? Today, at lunch, a co-worker asked me what what vegetables I ate. I could only come up with lima beans, but I haven't had any of those in at least 5-10 years. I actually made some wierd faces, while I watched my co-workers eat brocolli (and onions and peppers and mushrooms) on thier pizza. That crap ruins everything it touches. Cereal. The only cereal I buy is Cheerios and this is so I can have a "healthy" snack at work, since I tend to skip lunch and I need something to eat in moderation throughout the work day. I've gotten accustomed to Cheerios, but I can't say that they are my favorite. I don't know but most current cereals just seem too sugary or too brany/wheaty. Btw, is it me or is everything getting saltier too? It's getting to the point where I can't order frech fries at fast food places. Back to cereal, I've never gotten accustomed to the whole milk/cereal thing, but this is probably due to my wierd family upbringing. I remember being a kid and recieving looks at elementary school when I poured OJ into those small cereal bowls. Btw, Brendan what kind of milk do you take on your cereal. Whole, Skim, 1%? -CG

I had never even heard of such a thing. But looking at the characteristics, I find I hate almost everything on that "lessened preference" list: Coffee (ugh), green tea, celery, grapefruit juice, spinach... to me, all unpleasant or absolute revolting. Even chili peppers, tonic water, olives... hate them. Can't stand alcoholic beverages either. Not saying that means anything. But that is very interesting. Meanwhile, my favorite breakfast cereal is Fruity Pebbles. I also like Boo Berry, but the human body must not like that blue dye cause it makes for some rather... colourful toilet works.
