Good thing I'm getting my license to carry next week. That's nice, Jens, but I don't think you need a license to carry around any E.B. or GameStop bags.

Wow... you're replying to a comment that's almost a year old...
In Internet time, that is an eternity.

Have you seen Jon Stewart's piece on Obama's birth certificate? He used this clip, and others, to great effect.

I really, really hope Obama gets on that podium addressing the Nobel institute with "WTF? WTF? Seriously, guys, WTF? I haven't done anything yet. You guys can't even say I wouldn't hurt a fly... cuz I did. I know you people are very thick, what with giving this award to terrorists and all that, but WTF?"
And then Kanye West barges in with a mic and says "Barrack, I'm really happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Wangari Muta had the best Kenyan Nobel of all time. Of all time."
That would make things only slightly better.

Let's face it, Obama essentially received this award solely for not being George W. Bush.

As much as I approve of Obama and support what he's doing, this really is a bit silly.

I agree. I like Obama (to a point) but he really hasn't done too much other than instill the 'hope' that he was famous for during the campaign.

It's crazy. I heard the head of some major organization on NPR say that the award isn't necessarily for achievement but for "being on the right track." Okay. What's even more crazy is that the nominees had to be in by February or something, so when they first started considering him he hadn't been in office for a month. Jens is right.

I stopped caring about the Nobel Peace Prize after they gave it to Yasser Arafat,

Oooooh the Nobel Peace Prize, I thought you were talking about the Bullshit Look At Me Prize. Oh wait, that's the same thing.

I am late to the discussion, but I have a different perspective. The awards are both arbitrary and subjective, and as in such things politics is an inevitable undercurrent. On the merits, I do not believe our President has earned the award. Never the less, it has been awarded and so as an American I remain true to my mid-west upbringing; I take pride that a fellow American has won a prestigious award and I offer my sincere congratulations.
I believe our President's response was sincere and appropriate given the position the award placed him in. The man demonstrated humility and class, virtues I appreciate in a leader.
On a final note, I hope he he remains mindful of the award as he continues to restore America's tarnished image abroad and strengthen our alliances. The neo-con uni-polar world is anachronistic. America must adapt itself to the emergent multi-polar world and learn to thrive and advance vital national interests through collaboration, diplomacy, the rule of law and fidelity to its core values. All the best.

Kuhni might want to cross Maine from his travel list, too: Americans, think about these people if you ever get to vote a bullshit proposition like that one. edit: The real crime here, though, is that guy on the right. I bet the only times he gets to see his wife from that angle are when she's praying to her personal gay-hating god, if you know what I mean. double edit: And if you don't know what I mean, I'm saying she never bends down to give head to his evangelical, blue-collared cock.
