Good film. I liked it a lot. I really loved the dark nature of the film. I hope the next one gets even darker...
I don't know. I like Bale's version. His Batman seems more human... He's not just some guy who becomes invincible because of the suit, the gadgets, and the car. Bale's Batman is a guy who "knows martial arts and can kick ass," but his Batman also experiences physical and emotional anguish. Oh, and I think he might wear the batsuit to protect his identity and his life...
The Dark Knight has something that you can hold onto to, that is it's portrayal of the villain. In this film, the villain, the Joker is on the same level as the Batman. You might feel that the "Two-Face" story is a little too preachy and the boat scene is a little too sentimental, and you might still have the same problems with the Batmobile and the editing, but, Nate you should still check this film out.
You're not even going to see it for the Zimmer score? I must say that score seems less functional than the Batman Begins score. There's just no progression there. I don't know. I just feel like Batman needs more of a theme (like when he was in Tokyo). To me, the whole score just felt underwhelming....

I also like Burton's philosophy that Bruce Wayne should look like a normal guy and have to wear the batsuit to gain his intimidation, while Bale's Bruce Wayne is this giant buff guy that knows martial arts and can kick anyone's ass. So why even wear the batsuit?

All that being said, I can easily overlook that kind of stuff in a movie if it's likeable/has heart but Batman Begins did nothing for me. No memorable dialogue or scenes to hold on to.

Still, I was looking forward to the Dark Knight but after Joe's comments and then Hook's comments about the horrible editing (especially in the fight scenes) I'm not sure I'll like the thing. I think I'll be more entertained by Christian Bale going to jail for throwing his mother to the ground. Allegedly.
