There are a few decent orchestras in Montana. Here's one I found: www.glaciersymphonychorale.org/Basically you'll find a pretty good orchestra everywhere there are enough rich people to support one. I was surprised at how AWESOME the Houston Symphony was...and I'd never really heard much about them before I moved there. (Silly me. They've had Stokowski, Previn, and Barbirolli as music directors in the past.) Yavar

I actually live, when not in college, in Kalispell, where the Glacier Symphony is located. All the major towns have good one; Butte Symphony, Great Falls, Billings, Helena...and they all get together to do the Montana Power Sympony. That is really something to see and hear. But anyone can join, as long as you can play decently. So when I went and saw the Colorado Symphony a year and a half ago, they did the entire Planets as well as some Grainger pieces and the world premiere of a really great oboe suite, I was completely blown away.

Bumpity bump....So what's everyone doing in June? There's going to be a great (at least, based on prior concerts that contained his music) John Williams concert in San Pedro, CA, and cheaper than your traditional orchestral concert. I'm sure that it won't be the same as seeing JW himself, but a talented group just the same. Some folks from FSM are for sure coming and it'd be great to get some of the group out...as far as I know nothing happened in the two years since this thread was created...so why not now?

Well, I'll be working on 22 weekdays. Concerts are on weekends right? I wouldn't mind going to CA for a weekend. -CG PS: Finance-wise, June seems so far away.
