What's the difference between Barack Obama and Jesus? . . . . . . . . At least Jesus knows how to build a cabinet.

Meh, I'm just posting to break the unspoken rule of this board, which is "Thou shalt not post on weekends, but if lurketh thy must, lurketh well". Where did that come from?

Meh, I'm just posting to break the unspoken rule of this board, which is "Thou shalt not post on weekends, but if lurketh thy must, lurketh well". Where did that come from? It's true. My theory is people don't want to give up the impression that they are cool, which would come crashing down if they posted on the weekend. Everyone has a hot date or is out whitewater rafting or rock climbing. Therefore if they lurk they have the best of both worlds.

That place is "hot" on the weekends. Or maybe everyone has gone to the movie theather to watch the latest crappy film. Darn, I really feel old after veiwing "The House on the Left." -CG

Please, somebody explain to me these tea parties. Ok, using the magic of the tubes, I see that the whole "dumping tea into the ocean" thing in Boston wasn't because the British raised taxes on tea, but because they reduced them, thereby making the East India Company tea cheaper than the smuggled tea brought by the colonists. In essence, the British were trying to seduce the colonists ("Accept British rule, including right to set taxes -- cheapo tea for everyone, yes?"), but the protesters dumped the whole thing with a big, giant "Fuck, no!" before anyone had a say.
So, my question is: what the hell is going up there?
Also, the pirate thing: that was awesome.

If anyone's familiar with the show "How I Met Your Mother," there was a silly reference to "A Beautiful Mind" where Neil Patrick Harris' character was working on an equation with formulas flying out. A song clearly modelled after "A Kaleidoscope of Mathematics" was playing.

So, my question is: what the hell is going up there? So, I am, too, confused about what all this shit is about. I do love that the term Tea Bagging is making the rounds, a term popularized by the video gaming culture depicting the act of dangling your balls in your defeated opponents mouth. Not sure those using it in the media have any clue what it means though. Also, the pirate thing: that was awesome. No the British reduced taxes on tea that was being sold to Britain, not America, and in order to recoup these losses (to try and compete with smuggling) they issued a tax on tea in British America, in which they protested. EDIT: After actually reading about it, I am inclined to agree with you, sir. I'm also digging the popular use of the term Tea Bagging, a term popularized by video gaming culture. I wonder if the people saying it realize it is associated with the act of dangling your balls in the mouth of the defeated opponent for the sake of gloating.

I don't know if they realize it (probably not), but Jon Stewart sure did.

Oh, this just sucks. Dikembe Mutombo, the great NBA defensive player, just had a career-ending knee injury. No commentary here, just complete suckitude. Ok, the man was a great player and is a great guy, but he's also a great finger-waver. Here's Shaq getting the whistle for taunting Mutombo with his trademark taunt after a dunk: And you know what's sad? I think more people know of Shaq now because he's a Twitter savant than because of his career.
