Sad but true... Debra Hill, producer of classic/cult movies like Halloween, The Fog and Escape From New York has died at age 54. You'd almost wish it was a fog or Michael Meyers who killed her, but nope... it had to be cancer. RIP Debra... uk.imdb.com/name/nm0384185/pete.

That is always sad news... I was curious. Was she the one Carpenter showed the film to and she wasn't scared at all, until Carpenter re-showed her the film using the score...

But, in case *this* is what you mean: When they first shot The Fog it was a much moodier/more suggestive film without the "zombies". The studio (not necessarily Hill) thought it wasn't scary/gorey enough (because audiences at that time demanded a more tangible monster; not just an abstract fog) and so, they reshot some scenes with zombies knocking on doors and breaking through windows; and adding a few fake-scare moments. And adding the music probably helped a lot too. I doubt Hill would've actually found the movie to be scary. From the dvd's audio commentary I get the impression she was a very hands-on person, present at the set during the shooting... I doub't she'd be scared of the movie she helped shooting! pete.
