Seriously, this is the most "snow on the ground" I've seen in several years. The reason it seems so inconsequential is because, for the first time in living memory, the council has actually prepared properly for the snowfall, so most of the roads are clear and everything.

About 3 days I saw around 5 inches... Enjoy it while you can. Unfortunately there is no snow in Southern CA, but apparently there is plenty in Minnesota ;D

No snow here in my part of North Wales. The lack of snow here is one of the main things I miss about Scotland. Hopefully there'll be some lying on the ground tomorrow morning.

You call THAT snow? Pathetic (though with the way your cab drivers opperate their vehicles, I'm glad you don't have any more than that). THIS is snow: www.brendananderson.com/images/cosnow1.jpgYes, the mound in the center of the picture used to be a Ford Bronco. ;D [glow=blue,2,300]-B[/glow]

apparently there is plenty in Minnesota ;D Not really. There is only about two inches right now in most places. I would say New York probably gets more snow than Minnesota nowdays. Although it is supposed to snow tonight. Which reminds me, why do people think they can still drive the speed limit when there is an inch of snow and ice on it? The speed limit is for clear roads.

THIS is snow: OK, you win Although we do have even MORE snow today. It's quite extraordinary, and very pretty, made even more so because I have the day off work!! (Well... not OFF work, but I'm working from home...)

Yeah, sorry Broxton . . . I'm with Brendan, here. You and your feeble British brainstem cannot even come close to fully comprehending our typical Midwestern winter . . . for, to grasp its magnitude would require the combined strength of a million snowplows, enough salt douse the crummiest of your "pub food," and the knowledge that, once you see that grass disappear beneath that layer of white in October, you will not see it again until April. For you see, we are the Siberia with used car lots and A&W Root beer stands!
You want the snow? You can't HANDLE the snow! You talk of clearings and accumulations, but what does it amount to? A mere dusting! The truth is, we ARE the snow. When a mother tells her child that snow is nothing but God's dandruff, just remember that we are the flaky, white, itchy epicenter of the universe. We ARE God's damaged scalp -- and no amount of Divine Head and Shoulders Shampoo will save you from where Chicago or Minnesota or North Dakota will send you.
So what do you think of your precious snow NOW?
;D

So, How much is thier Now? ;D Some snow just came yesterday, and the weatherpeople, with thier mangled terminology, are predicting that a "Noreaster" is on the way for Monday...
Because SUV's make them feel invincible. Haven't you seen the commercials. ;D

So what do you think of your precious snow NOW? Um... its wet and cold and white? Although, somehow, I feel strangely inadequate and emasculated... almost as if Britain's lack of "manly" snow (312 foot-high snow drifts, temperatures plummeting to -3876 degrees, families having to resort to eating their pets as they can't leave their houses) has made us inferior in the eyes of our American cousins. Ah, well. At least our candy bars are more interesting. ;D

So, How much is thier Now? ;D Actually there is over 50" of snow in Northern Minnesota near the Canadian border and Lake Superior (they are having a dogsled race up there somewhere soon). So maybe I exaggerated a tad. Northern Minnesota (Duluth on north) has tons of snow, but south of Duluth basically nothing. I'm usually not one to bash SUVs, but I'm going to start. They are often the ones tailgating you. If a car is actually tailgating me I'm happy because it is so rare. And SUVs block your view in parking lots. -Nate

Well, count yourself lucky you don't live in Atlanta, where even the slightest, briefest occurence of a tiny little speck of snow and ice causes unbelievably wimpy reactions from Atlanteans (or Atlantans, I forget which are which). People completely forget how to drive, but also feel the urgent need to stock up on canned supplies, running into each other and spilling spam everywhere. All stores and other public buildings close, there's rioting, arson, and looting in the streets. Stores are set on fire and cars are torched in citizens' desperate attempt to escape the mild cold... You get the point. We're wimps.

Well, count yourself lucky you don't live in Atlanta, where even the slightest, briefest occurence of a tiny little speck of snow and ice causes unbelievably wimpy reactions from Atlanteans. Alledgedly, it is the same here in Sheffield. After all the stories I heard of how Sheffield turns to choas after just a dusting of snow, I was quite eager to see the city come to a grinding halt. Unfortunately, for the first time in years (or decaded) the city council has actually listened to the weather forecasts and has taken ample precautions. Their success in keeping the roads clean and clear resulted in major frustration on my behalf. Damn you, City council... damn you! pete.
