So, when I'm not listening to or writing about film music, I love football (soccer to my North American friends ). I've been a supporter of my home town team, Sheffield Wednesday, since I was a little kid, although I don't get to as many games as I'd like. www.sheffieldwednesday-mad.co.uk/We used to be one of the best teams in England (we finished third in the Premier League in 1992!), but now we've slumped down the league system to the third tier (teams ranked 43-64) - although we are having a renaissance this year, lying in 4th place in the table, and with a genuine shot at promotion!! Anyone else have sporting passions? Erik? Ice hockey? Jon

Wednesday who? Who, the Owls of course
No seriously I'm really a Steelers fan. They're the best soccer, err football, team in town. I like to sit there on a Saturday afternoon watching the replays and seeing Ron Shudra slice his puck into the net and score the touchdown. It really makes my day!

Two very simple words, one is repeated. GO LEAFS GO!I'm a die hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan, who next to the Montreal Canadiens, is the most storied franchise in the NHL. But the NHL owners have locked out its players this season and it looks like there won't be a Stanley Cup winner for the first time since 1918, which was due to the Spanish Flu. Anyway, most of the players in the NHL have jumped ship to Europe to play until the NHL figures out its problems... so for you people in Europe... mainly Sweden and Russia... check out some of your local pro teams because this might be the only chance that you get to see some of the best players in the world playing on your very own team. I miss my hockey... but al least there is some brilliant junior hockey being played. For instance, Canada just won it's first Gold Medal since 1995 at the World Junior Hockey Championships on January 4th in Grand Forks, North Dakoda. Over 11,000 fans packed the arena, most of them Canadian, cheering our boys on! Here's hoping to a repeat in Vancouver next year! I'm also a fan of baseball having played it during my teen years. And no offense to the NFL but CFL football is a far superior game. As for soccer... couldn't care less. It just boggles the mind that with a net that big that most games end in a scoreless tie. -Erik-

We actually have a really great ice hockey team here in Sheffield, the Sheffield Steelers. Certainly no match for any of the NHL teams over in North America (when they are playing ), but they've been British champions several times, played in the European Championships, and we have a lot of former AHL and NCAA players on our roster. I've only ever been to see them a couple of times, though, at not recently... I really should go, because I love the sport! www.steelersihc.co.uk/index.htm

I'd say that I've not got too much of an interest in sports other than baseball. I first got interested in baseball after several business trips the US - I just couldn't get over the talent of the pitchers and the fielders (not so much the hitters - all they have to do is hit the ball!)
I've only managed to get to one game - and that was 5-6 years ago - when I was in Atlanta. I try and watch as much baseball as I can on NASN but the time difference usually beats me.
I have a soft spot for Atlanta (love their stadium) and Boston (love their city.)

We are having occasional football matches in the orchestra here (usually winds against strings, until the pussies are loosing too high and we switch strong players against weak ones between teams). That means fun for 2 hours and then pain for a week, plus it's really cold at the moment. Other than that my girlfriend and me are getting into watching baseball due to a friend she has. It's a pretty cool sport. I guess now I can understand countless (previously seeming quite pointless) American movies a lot better. Other than that going to Badminton and Kickboxing is a luxury I don't have much time for any longer. No, actually I am just damn lazy. As for local teams I support at the moment - none. I am in China, guys! How the hell did I end up here...

I did Kendo for 1 1/2 years ... other than that ...
Golf is nice. Playing of course ... it's pretty unwatchable.
Oh, I love Billiard and Bowling. I think those count, right?

I've started working out to try loosing some of the weight I gained last year sitting in front of the computer and eating fatty snacks.
Does that count?

What can I say? I love good food! Too bad I live in the US. Do it like me ... cook for yourself. I love to cook as much as I love to eat. It's cool that those two things come together naturally. And it also comes handy, cause my girlfriend can't cook...
