I enjoy a good rock score. Your review made me curious to check this one out. Zimmer runs hot and cold with me, but when he's on... he's on.

I'm digging this one, too. Interestingly, I once read that Zimmer has long regarded Days of Thunder as his weakest score - I wonder if he regarded this film as opportunity to do a score in the same style and get it right?

Does "Gimme Some Lovin'" really appear in the film? It also pops up in DAYS OF THUNDER. Not to mention IRON EAGLE. Maybe it's something about machines going really fast.

But James how could you rate this so highly? You hate Zimmer and all he stands for. You've incurred his wrath and the fury of his fan boys. Have you been converted? Has your hatred been tempered by the love for all things Zimmer? Just joking of course. I figured you were going to get that response at some point, and I might as well get it out of the way.

I really enjoyed this high octane score. We do not always get rock scores these days and now we have had Electric guitars blasting in Pacific Rim and now Rush. I feel like I am back in the 60s!
Nice review Jon. I remain guarded regarding 12 Years A Slave.
All the best.
