One of those times I feel compelled to review something that's completely pointless since the album has been out of print for longer than some posters here have been alive, I'd imagine, but equally one I felt compelled to write in an attempt to draw people's attention towards a ravishing romantic masterpiece, in my opinion one of the most beautiful film scores ever written. www.movie-wave.net/steel-magnolias/

My favorite piece from this score is "The Drive to Aunt Ferns." The main theme is classic Delerue but this track touches me on a much more personal level. That violin toward the end of the track is nearly heart breaking. Here's a link: m.youtube.com/watch?v=XqrXX6AHvzk

Soundtrack Collector lists the DVD isolated score track with a length of about 50 minutes, which is more than double what was released on the album. I'm a supporter of ANY release of Delerue's music, but this is a particularly affecting score from that point in his career. Incredibly tricky too, the way he injects his music with such naked emotionality but keeps it from veering into maudlin territory. It helped this movie enormously. I'd love to see this get the expanded treatment.
