Perfect timing for that question since I've been thinking about finally picking up the complete Sand Pebbles. Related but unrelated, Kritzerland will be releasing complete and totally remastered (ie, from analog tapes and not digital) POLTERGEIST II on Monday. ETA: Posting the POLTERGEIST II info here because it's really not worth going to the thread on FSM just to read about Kimmel and Doug Fake taking shots at each other. Ooooh, I think I'll need to grab this one. I've been trying to get my hands on the extended version of this score for a while. "Poltergeist" is one of my favorite horror scores, and the sequel has some excellent moments. Besides, I love a good horror score.

I had to go read that train wreck. Just makes me not want to buy scores anymore. The specialty labels know they will go out of business soon so now they are just attacking each other to survive. I can't think of any other reason for this behavior. Intrada comes out looking bad. Of course the fanboys are around telling people they can't post anything from Intrada's forums anywhere else on the Internet (even though it is on the Internet for the public to see). I seem to remember this happening around five years ago in similar fashion and it really turned me off to buying scores and participating in forums.

It's bound to get testy sometimes. I honestly doubt it was any different when the specialty labels first started (when, not coincidentally, Doug and Bruce were two of the first big fish).

I really, really need to add this to my collection. I've heard some of the tracks before and they are stupendous. Thanks for reminding me about his one!

Ok, pop quiz hot shots... pick a favorite "Omen" score... if you dare.
This is a tough one, so I'm going to ponder on it a bit. But I'd love to hear what you folks think.

The Final Conflict for me, no question. My first experience of the Omen franchise on the big screen was Goldsmith's horn fanfare at the beginning of that film. Then there are some great set pieces too.
It is a tough choice. Each of the 3 have awesome parts but I think that it is the personal story that singles out The Final Conflict.

I think they're all really good... the first and third are really, really, really good. If I really had to pick then it would probably (just) be The Final Conflict.

Ok, pop quiz hot shots... pick a favorite "Omen" score... if you dare. Well if I'm forced to pick, I'll have to go with "The Omen" just barely edging out "The Final Conflict". The score as a whole flows better for me. I love the way it seems to ebb and flow, building and falling back. I think "The Final Conflict" has better highlights, but doesn't quite measure up in total.

I'm wondering if there's going to be any choice for "Damien: Omen II"? I think that it is a great score and I especially like the two versions - original score and re-recording - that's available. Shame though that there's some damage to some of my favourite track(s) on the OST version.

I'll have to risk incurring the wrath of Goldsmith fans here, but I don't think you anything from this score other than the spectacularly beatiful "The Trees." And I think I prefer the city of Prague philharmonic recording available on various Goldsmith compilations to the original recording on this album. I'm sure this is one of the tracks you've heard before, Roman, and you should know that the rest of the score is not similar to it.
