I've been playing a lot of LA Noire on the PS3 and the music is really good! Great action music, themes, and music of the era (1947 LA). Yes! Enjoyed both game and score.

Since I enjoy finding out what other folks are listening to, and hearing about scores I might have missed otherwise, I'll continue my habit of updating a "Now Playing" thread. So here is the first for Monday July 29th! You do realize that with this boards format that you don't have to create a new NOW PLAYING thread everyday like you did at Filmtracks. People can just continue to add their NOW PLAYING posts into this one from now on. NP: Zzzzzzzzzzz... Bedtime! -Erik-

Yes! Enjoyed both game and score. I read your review of the score and enjoyed it! I'm quite surprised by the quality of the game and score. I didn't know what to expect when I bought it and was really skeptical it was going to be the same old Rockstar produced game (glorified violence, etc.), but this game has some depth with the characters and story line and while it does have a lot of violence it has a point with the story and fits the era (I think it helps that you play as the "good guy" instead of a criminal like the Grand Theft Auto games, which I hate). I even bought the entire DLC pack, something which I have never done before. Same with the score. Was expecting the same old Rockstar licensed pop songs as the music, but was shocked at the quality of the original score! I may have to get the download or CD (if they made a CD?).

I'm sure Jon would delete any superfluous threads I create in my zeal. ;D

I may have to get the download or CD (if they made a CD?). I found the score on both Amazon and iTunes for download. Amazon also had a compilation of the period songs that you hear in the car while driving in the game. I picked up both albums and made my own Noire playlist (with some "Chinatown" added for good measure). A really enjoyable game and score.

Delerue makes for great late-night listening. I've been playing through my favorite tracks from the wonderful "Great Composers" compilation. Great stuff!

Feels like an all anime music kind of day. I'll start things off with a score I don't listen to very often, "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" by Hisaishi. It is one of those scores that I appreciate, but I find I enjoy a lot of Hisaishi's work a bit more. So it gets forgotten. Well not today!
After that is one of my favorite scores by Yoko Kanno, "Brain Powerd". Big themes, lots of great adventure music and a touch of romance. Sure some of the themes seem a bit "familiar". But where else can you hear the main theme from Zimmer's "Toys" turned into an action set piece.
I'll wrap things up with Shinkichi Mitsumune's score to "Revolutionary Girl Utena". I've got a playlist of just the instrumental work from the show (and the movie). Not up for the 1970s rock opera material today.
What are you listening to?

One of my favorite game scores! Enjoyed the game, too, save for those bizarre moments when Cole would start screaming at someone after you selected the "doubt" option.

Evil Dead - Roque Banos
I'm enjoying this one. I was thinking the other day about how much I missed Elliot Goldenthal's voice in film music - and here it is! I guess Sphere was in the temp-track. And there's a fair bit of the Chris Young horror style here too. Banos pulls it all together very well and has some interesting ideas of his own. "Classic" horror style. Very good.

THE GREEN MILE - Thomas Newman
It's been so long since I listened to this. I remember not enjoying it much when I first bought. I listened through it a few times and decided not to return to it. Until today. I wonder if my opinion will change.

Continuing my anime score adventures. I'm starting off with an interesting electronic score for the series "Berserk" by Hirasawa. HIs work reminds me of Vangelis' more modern style combined with unusual vocal work. I'm not always in the mood for his stuff, but this album is pretty solid.
After that is "Steamboy" by Jablonsky. This is a really entertaining score. It's got a great main theme and Jablonsky does some really cool things with it.
I'll wrap things up with Ko Otani's score to "Tenchi Muyo: The Movie 2". Primarily electronic scoring again, but with several themes all used in creative ways. One of the first anime scores I picked up, so it does hold quite a bit of nostalgia.
What are you listening to?

Today I am returning to Outer Space with a revisit ot Shirley Walker's Space Above And Beyond. I really liked this show and her music was a big reason why. After that, time permitting I will take in my newest acquisition Turbulence.
All the best!

Well I finally got around to picking up "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Bernstein. This is one I've needed to add to my collection for ages. I ended up with the rerecording by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Bernstein conducts this performance, so I'm guessing it will be pretty faithful to the original. Looking forward to exploring that. This score started my journey and was the first one I reviewed here at MMUK. It will always have a special place in my heart. I love Bernstein for this magnificent gift. All the best!

The Rocketeer (since it was mentioned in the Horner thread). God, this is such a fun score.

Call me behind the curve, but for some reason when 'Black Gold' was released well over a year ago, I totally ignored it. I listened to some samples and thought "Meh, I don't need this." I need to learn that judging Horner from 30-second sound bites is a bad idea. Fuck this album is beautiful.
