So, I'm never up-to-date when it comes to TV shows. If I hear that a show is good, I'll usually just rent it on DVD. Actually, we've only done this with two shows now: Lost and Battlestar Galactica. I really enjoyed Lost seasons 1 and 2. Season three was awful in almost every way. We just finished season four and I thought it was great again. Every episode was great.
We've just started watching BSG in the last week. It's significantly less engaging than Lost. If this show doesn't get any better by the end of season 1 I think we'll give up on it.
So. Any thoughts on those two shows? What are you watching now? What other shows should I check out?

You need to watch The Wire." Like, really. Best TV show ever.
Not really into Battlestar Gallactica, but I am very much into Lost. And I really disagree about Season Three.

Lost is IMHO the best thing on TV right now, but there have been umpteen threads on that.
I really like Dollhouse, on FOX right now in its second season. Eliza Dushku is in it, and it's all about a secret company which has the technology to 'mind wipe' people and imprint them with new personalities, and send them out on missions. Sometimes the 'dolls' (both male and female) are used for "soft jobs" (almost like escorts), whereas sometimes the government comes in and hires them to infiltrate terrorist cells, flush out murderers, all kinds of things. As the series progresses, you gradually find out who all these people were before they were dolls, why they are there in the first place, and their back stories... and then there is an FBI agent who has heard about the Dollhouse and, believing it to be immoral, wants to bring it down.
I really like it.
Other than that, I don't watch a lot of episodic TV, but if they're on I will catch episodes of things like Bones, CSI, Numbers, Burn Notice. I'm trying to get into FlashForward right now too. And of course, The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama...

Clone Wars! Just kidding, but certainly better than anyone thought.

I'd recommend Fringe (Fox on Thursdays) - it's on its second season and has reached a great combination of 'monster-of-the-week' style episodes that outsiders can easily follow, but also with a deeper over-arching plot line which is really engaging. Oh, and it has pretty good music too. I'm also enjoying Community...it's funnier than it probably should be, though it still hasn't really found its own identity. Curb Your Enthusiasm's current season is hilarious and will only get better as the Seinfeld cast becomes more integrated. -Brendan

I don't watch much, and what I do catch I get from the internet (Netflix and Hulu primarily). I love the US version of The Office and watch that all the time. I am also a big fan of Legend of the Seeker. Quite a bit different from the books, but it is a ton of fun.

My mom loves Fringe so I watch it on occasion. BTW, the music is great.

I'll second Jon's recommendation of Dollhouse. It starts out pretty mediocre with small flashes of Joss Whedon brilliance, but about halfway through the first season it gets AWESOME. Second season has been pretty strong so far.
Also: GLEE is INCREDIBLE.

A lot of shows I'm enjoying right now ("Lost", "30 Rock", "Fringe", "Dollhouse", among others), but I have to agree with Jens that "Mad Men" is the cream of the crop. Any time AMC has either "Mad Men" or "Breaking Bad" running, they've pretty much got the best show on television at that particular moment.
Back at ya later

I think every time somebody agrees with Jens, we should say "I have to agree with Jens." Seems appropriate.

Caught the first episode of "V" tonight. It was reasonably entertaining, though I feel like it showed way too many of its cards in the first episode. Some of the information we got would have made a cool big revelation at some point later in the show.
