Although the preview was kinda hokey (the music, the wording) I think this looks like a pretty cool movie. I'm excited for it.

Eh, I dunno. I love Downey and Strong, but the trailer looks a bit like a unintentionally satirical statement about modern Hollywood. I've heard some say the trailer doesn't really represent the actual tone of the movie, though...

So, they decided to make a Pirates of the Caribbean: Sherlock Holmes trilogy kind of thing? Eh... I'll bite.

not amused about hans zimmer making the music. missed oppurtunity. but its not the first action-adventure-take on SH. Remember Young Sherlock Holmes? (And Bruce Broughtons best score to date?) So i really hope Hans goes Pirates 3 in the music here.

it definitely isn't my great-great-grandfather's Holmes...and more's the pity. And Hams Zimmer? Ugh...shame on you, Guy Ritchie. I wonder if he'll be smoking cocaine...probably too much to hope for. Also, there's a picture on imdb of Rachel McAdams wearing PANTS! The agony.... I wish someone would make a movie of Philip Jose Farmer's The Adventure of the Peerless Peer (btw, he just died a few months ago...very sad). That would make me happy. If it were done correctly...

I wonder if he'll be smoking cocaine...probably too much to hope for. Of course he'll be smoking cocaine! Oh wait...you meant Holmes and not Robert Downey Jr....never mind. I've recently been reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (it was my first book to try out on my Stanza e-book reader for my iPod) and this trailer doesn't look anything like the actual character of Holmes. And if it's true this trailer isn't an accurate depiction of the tone of the film, that just makes it all the more stupid. But who am I kidding? I'm going to see the film. Who wouldn't want their Sherlock Holmes with a healthy dose of explosions? -Brendan

Victorian England AND explosions? What's not to love?

Remember Young Sherlock Holmes? Blech, I'd rather not. Apart from the score and special effects, there's nothing to like about that piece of shit movie.

This doesn't look like a sherlock holmes anyone has seen before. The jury is still out on this one for me. It looks like it could be really funny and a great time....but sherlock holmes wielding two batons and whoopin' up on a whole bunch of bad guys at once....*massive eye roll* He's not an action hero. He's supposed to be brilliant and witty and always a step ahead of everyone. That preview doesn't give me that vibe. We'll see. If I can put aside my preconceptions about holmes' character then I may end up really liking it.

Not to mention he carries a GUN. He'd be smarter than to get within arm-reach of his enemies.

I have to say, there is something off about this trailer as a whole. It doesn't make me want to see this film. I don't know what the tone of the film is, but I think that the overly epic music, with the slow motion, is just contradicting the tone of the footage used in the trailer. I don't know. It's very bizarre. I'm intrigued, so I'll probably go see this, unless it's reviewed terribly. Another thing that struck me was how many times they used shots from what looks like a boxing match of some sort. It made that aspect of the film seem more important than it might turn out to be, but that's what happens when you keep returning to a recognizable scene within a trailer. Anyway, that didn't sell the film for me, but that might be just because I'm not a boxing fan. I could care less though if it's my gran-grand-grandfather's Sherlock Holmes; as long as it's a good movie.
