One more thing: when did ILM start doing the special effects for Star Trek? What a travesty... ILM did the special effects for most of the good Star Treks: II, III, IV, VI, Generations, and First Contact.

ILM's big boys handle the big films. And with the budgets and production schedules blockbuster films have, they can hardly afford (am I contradicting myself?) the entire staff of one visual effects company to do the entirety of one film's effects shots. So there are a lot of companies involved, and sometimes we get bottom-of-the-barrell ILM staff coupled with little or poor organization between them and the rest of the agencies. Everyone goes to ILM because of their rep, but nowadays you can expect classic ILM with Verbinski and Spielberg. The rest don't put much innovation or effort into their work, which translates as "they do whatever the director tells them to do".
Also, I agree with everything Jens said on this thread.

How about Weta? I'd be fine with Weta doing the Star Trek sfx. But a Lucasfilm company? Ugh...

we should talk about C.G.I. Joe "C.G.I. Joe" is a good name, but considering the French setting and the fact that the team has been changed from an American to an international task force, I prefer to think of it as "G.I. Jaques: Le Véritable Héros Américain".

i wonder why the line "the french are not happy about this" was left out in the american version of the trailer.

Up was nothing short of fantastic. A great second directorial outing from Mr. Docter. Funny, moving, exciting and absolutely imaginative. Great score by Giacchino too. Can't recommend the film highly enough.
As for their next films, I've read that Toy Story 3 is up next with Cars 2, The Bear and the Bow, Newt, and John Carter of Mars to follow. Quite the eclectic line-up.

terminator salvation was a les wiseman movie. great sets and tons of great effects, action and sound.but, it feels totally empty, no emotion even on the human side, and man, the implemantion of the franchise famous quotes is reaaaaally bad. even the "supposed to be cool" cameo in the final battle was just fanservice, and did´t look that good. elfmans score works in the movie, though its one of his weakest effords. best part is the end credit suite. 6,5 of 10 for some cool scenes and very cool soundeffects during the harvester scene. oh and even christian bale isn´ t that great this time. sam worthington was cool. constantly thought of marcus fenix running around the wastelands of fallout 3.
