I'm not a huge chamber music fan - give me a 90-piece orchestra any day please. But I'm really digging John Williams' "Air and Simple Gifts." It's available now on iTunes. It has a great amalgam (that's right, 'amalgam') of bits to it - from Williams' own lilting descending melody reminiscent of his other Americana works to the more traditional Copland-esque bits of Americana, to the modernized harmonies to the virtuoso playing. And at 4 minutes and 30 seconds, it definitely doesn't overstay its welcome.
Thoughts?

I also liked it a lot. I prefer Copeland's take on simple gifts (just for the huge orchestral glory of it at the end), but this was a very nice piece, I thought.
