He's not leaving. The MLS regular season finishes this weekend, and Galaxy haven't made the playoffs, so his year is done - England have World Cup qualifiers early next year, so Galaxy are sending him on a 2-month loan to AC Milan in January (similar to what Henrik Larsson did with Manchester United a couple of years ago), to keep his fitness levels up prior to the England games. Then he'll be coming back to Galaxy for the beginning of the 2009 MLS season.
All these newspapers saying about how "the Beckham Experiment failed" and "he's turning has back on America" blah blah, they have their facts wrong, or they're spinning them to make it a more sensational story than it actually is.

As someone who is directly involved in the organization and promotion of football at a grassroots level in southern California, I can tell you that Beckham's positive impact on the game here has been immeasurable.

As an MLS fan, I'd say Beckham has had a positive impact on the game in the US as a whole, as well.
The squealing girls I can do without, though!
