I've forgotten what an underrated movie Dial M for Murder is, even if Hitchcock was dismissive of the film himself. Ray Millard was a superb villain, so gracious, so evil, so polite -- pouring drinks for everybody at the end. Grace Kelly does a lovely job of playing the innocent/confused wife. Robert Cummings is probably the weakest link in the acting trio, but John Williams does his role of Chief Inspector perfectly (brushing his moustache) at the end. The production is spot-on. There's one scene that really caught my attention, it's the scene where we only see Grace Kelly's head as she's going through the trial process. The lighting makes it like she's going down the steps to hell. And of course, Al has to make a cameo.

I just saw Rear Window for the first time yesterday. What a great film! It definitely makes you appreciate how masters like Hitchcock approached suspense/psychological drama apart from a lot of filmmakers today who feel they have to throw in everything but the kitchen sink to get a reaction.

There are many reasons why he is my most-beloved director of all time, just a few of which you hit on in your Dial M praises.
He was nothing short of a cinematic genius.
