I've waited a decade for a new Randy Newman studio album, and it was worth it. Wow. Stunning. Don't think I'll be listening to much film music for a while - it's even better than his last one. I know there's another Randy Newman fan out there somewhere. Buy this thing.

It says on Amazon that it doesn't come out until August 5th. Is it out in Europe already then?

I'm not sure, but it IS available via The Jens Way: Pre-order of CD + Bit-Torrent.

It says on Amazon that it doesn't come out until August 5th. Is it out in Europe already then? Newman made it available digitally (through his manager) to a group of fans a bit early, on the assumption that they would all buy the CD anyway. And I will!

What is everyone's favorite Randy Newman song? Mine might be (this is a weird one) 'You Can Leave Your Hat On.' There's something about it that I can't get enough of.

"You Can Leave Your Hat On", though technically a Randy Newman song, really is best when performed by Tom Jones.
I'm going to have to be predictable and go with "Short People".

I don't know, Jens. I prefer both Newman and Joe Cocker's versions to Tom Jones'. I really love the pounding piano chord and Jones doesn't include it like Newman and Cocker.

"Rednecks" is incredible, and I do like "Louisiana 1927". For an obscure one, "Wedding in Cherokee County" is wonderful.
