It got a standing ovation at Cannes this year, at least... rather surprising considering how many people thought the film might receive a Cannes jeering; a reminiscence about the particular fate The Da Vinci Code met there two years ago, no doubt.
I'm looking forward to an old fashioned, fun, rip-roaring, popcorn-muching time from the new Indiana Jones flick... no more, no less.

Critics seems quite taken by it, so far. The top critics especially.

most reviews say its the script that absoloutly doesn´t work, and that there are too many cg-elements and too much monkeys and prarie dogs.i wonder whats frank darabonts rejected script was about? but lucas idea of having indy replaces by shea lebouf in indy5 is horrible.but certainly will end up being filmed anyway. And Jens, i think it will be more of "Indiana Jones and the Live Free or Die Hard Syndrome" nice to watch but ultimatly unsatisfiying and forgettable.could be a littlebit better.

Live Free or Die Hard's problem was that it was derivative and redundant -- nothing more or less. Indy seems to have different problems entirely.

I am nervously looking forward to this. However, this is a franchise I really care about. The Indy films are my favorite popcorn movies of all time. If the movie is a disappointment, I guess that's okay. I just hope it's nothing like... oh, "Hannibal Rising" or "Batman and Robin" or "Alien: Resurrection" or "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace"... one of those fourth films that makes you genuinely wish you could erase what you just saw from your brain.
All that said, I find Roger Ebert's enthusiastic review somewhat encouraging.

Ebert gave ***1/2 (out of four) to both I and III, and **1/2 for II. While I disagree on the "Phantom Menace" rating, the other two sound about right, to me.
But never mind all of that. Roger Ebert has been the most consistently reliable and insightful critic out there, as far as I'm concerned. Even when he loves/hates a movie, I'll often know from what he writes about it whether or not I'll like the movie. And what he writes about Indy IV encourages me.

Who gives a rat's ass what critics say? They are liars just like politicians. If they gave their real opinions they'd be so boring no one would read them. The whole point of their reviews is to be so ridiculous/unreasonable just to get attention. EVERY movie is bad to them, especially popular ones. Sick twisted crap is great, but we stupid average folk are too stupid to realize that. Critics=me? And who cares if there is tons of CGI in the movie? (I do understand that Spielberg lied if the movie is full of CGI so get mad at him, but don't bash the movie just because). That is how movies are made now days. Get over it. Danny Elfman isn't going to write stuff that sounds like Batman ever again. That's in the past, get over it. John Williams is never going to sound like he did in the 80s ever again. He's changed. Get over it. Indy 4 isn't going to be like the last three. They were made in the 80s over 19 years ago. Get over it. Jon Broxton is never going to post at this board again. That was in the past. Get over it. So, yeah. I'm hoping I like the movie. I'm expecting it to be really good, but I'm not expecting old Indy. I just hope I feel something after the movie because most modern movies I see I feel nothing afterwards (like Chronicles of Narnia). So let's just wait until some "real" people see this movie (aka people from this board, family, friends, etc.) before we start the worrying. You saw IGN's top 100 video games of all time list, right? 'Nuff said. NEXT! -Nate

In that case I'm going to have to call you an idiot now. williams just split up in two different persons.his present ego, and his past ego, now called frederic talgorn.asterix is the full evidence for this theory.
