(I'm still listening to Speed Racer btw...I love it. Thanks Michael and Chris!)
So I made a drive down to Cincinnati yesterday to barter my soul for cd's (and it was Record Store Day, so I got some great deals). I only bought one score, but I couldn't believe what I found:
A like-new copy of Legend by Tangerine Dream for $8.00! Has anyone checked recently how far out of print this is? It's amazing! And it's mine for half as much as a new cd. I'm so excited that I might actually listen to it before I sell it for a boatload.
Does anyone else get lucky like this (but, you know, with actual good music)?

I recently found The Frames' Another Love Song and Beulah's When Your Heartstrings Break for less then ten bucks each at a CD Warehouse. Those are both quite rare and out of print by now.
A few years back I got a sealed copy of the Japanese Temple of Doom album at a used record store for, like, 11 bucks. I already owned it, of course, but at that price how could I resist purchasing a second copy?

The luckiest I ever got was when I realised I had accidentally created a huge crater, and sixteen trucks - all carrying copies of Legend by Tangerine Dream - fell into it and were never heard from again.
Meanwhile, I pulled out a microphone and made a recording of myself cutting a piece of string into eleven pieces and then taping each of those to a different door in the National Portrait Gallery in London. I put that onto CD and realised instantly that it held far more musical value than the peurile, childish, turgid baloney that was marketed as Legend by Tangerine Dream.

There once was a closeout from Intrada where many of the first titles they released were a $1.00 each. Telarc also closed out their cassette tapes and included Kunzel material for a $1.00 also. I ended up with over 50 titles in my collection.

Powder for $6.00 at Half Price Books. Man, sometimes people don't know what they have!

Over the years I got quite a few, so I can't remember them all. The most expensive were probably the 5 Broughton promos for free with some other purchase, Temple of Doom Japanese import, Land Before Time for about $5, Godzilla 2CD for $30 a couple of weeks ago, and many more. Sometimes its nice being a collector.
Oh, and I'm very proud of ordering Tangerine Dream's Legend a couple of years back in a store, listening in to it, realizing it wasn't the music from the film (lucky Europeans we are), and sending it straight back where the piece of shit came from!

Godzilla 2CD for $30 a couple of weeks ago Where did you find this?? (I've currently got an automatic Godzilla search going on eBay.)

Nothing remarkable, but I got Goldsmith's 'The Shadow' at Cheapo for around $3 a few years ago. I also picked up JNH's 'Restoration' and 'Waterworld' at Cheapo for around $6 each last summer as well as Hans Zimmer's 'Muppet Treasure Island' for $2, Powell's 'Endurance' for $2, and T-New's 'How to Make An American Quilt' for $4 this summer. Found Williams' 'Always' at Halfprice books last month for $6. Bernstein's 'The Ten Commandments,' for about $5, at Hastings in Montana a few years ago (that was nice!). I was mildly excited about some of these. <------------- what a bizzarly worded paragraph!
Anyway. I hate to use this thread as a place for me to bitch about "limited" edition scores, but I still find it highly absurd that Arnold's 'Godzilla' is out of print. Soundtracks are just becoming some sort of exclusive rich person's club. It's a thing for high society now.

Couldn't quite believe it, as I mad the winning bid 5 hours before the end ad went to sleep, and there it still was in the morning... Make sure you check the international sellers as well, I got mine from Europe somewhere.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this good but wrong deal but I want to share it. My cordless GE phone needed a new battery so I went to my local Radio Shack to purchase one. The price was $17.95 a bit high I thought for a $29.95 phone but oh well. About two blocks away there is a Walgreen's store and I stopped in for a couple of items. I noticed my phone except for the absence of an answering machine for $11.99. I double checked just to make sure it was the same battery and it was. I was wrong at least in my opinion but I returned the battery to Radio Shack, purchased the phone for $12.00, took out the battery and threw the phone away. I was wrong because I was contributing to the landfills of the world but the bottom line is really messed up here. Its cheaper to buy a phone than another battery? Thomas

Yes, it is, unless you buy it for a few dollars on ebay (from Hong Kong). It's also cheaper to buy a completely new iteam instead of having it repaired (valid for almost anything).

Haha, this reminds me of when I was in college and I had a cheap old inkjet printer - I went to buy replacement cartridges and was really mad to discover that I could buy a whole new cheap inkjet printer (which included cartridges) for CHEAPER than I could replace my current printer's cartridges. So I did this - 3 times at least. I would use the printer until the ink was gone, throw the printer away, and get a new one. If tech companies are going to get stupid, then I say let's get stupid!! -Brendan

I got a copy of the Varese Club release of Delerue's An Almost Perfect Affair from an eBay seller a few months ago for LESS than retail. It's chronically OOP, so I was amazed to get it at all, never mind the small price I ended up paying. I suspect that the seller thought they would get much more for it, but as they let the auction take its course they were obviously obligated to sell it to me for my winning bid. Sucks to them for putting such a ludicrously low reserve on the auction! ;D
By the way, shouldn't this thread be in the General Discussion forum?
