Let's face it, this messageboard has taken over. All my friends are here and gone are the post-and-run wackos that plagued the ScoreBoard (though they were always fun to read). Here we can post pictures, threads feel a bit more organized and it's an all around fun place. However... The feature I miss the most from the ScoreBoard is the e-mail notification of responses. Yes, I know I can opt to have e-mail updates of a particular thread, but I really liked that at the ScoreBoard you could get e-mail notification of only responses to your specific posts. If I set this board to notify me every time there's a post in a thread I at one time participated in 30 posts ago, it becomes an unnecessary mass of e-mails since I might have only been a part of one aspect of the thread and it has since moved on to other topics. Is there any way to configure this board to give me very specific notifications realated only to specific posts? -Brendan, the nit-picker

How do you want to get "very specific notifications realated only to specific posts"? Theo only possibility I see is to get a notification when your post is answered for the first time. But then you miss out on each subsequent post anyway. The difference between here and filmtracks is that there's no "threadS" structure, it's a "thread-" one. Nobody can answer to you directly, only indirectly by adding to the thread. In the end you probably have to remember where you posted, check it out every once in a while and let it be when you find out the disussion has gone somewhere else.

Yes, I know...it's just that at Filmtracks it was so much more convenient to simply be notified when someone responded to me personally so I could go there right away and respond as opposed to here where either I have to just keep this page open all day and keep refreshing it, or else have a longer delay in my response to people responding to me.
Ideally, it would be great to be able to set the board to send me an e-mail only when someone quoted any part of my post in their post using the "Quote" feature. Is that possible?

I've been playing around with the admin notification options and, unfortunately, it looks as though ProBoards doesn't offer that level of detail in its service. Sorry

On the subject of quoting, I must say I find it to be a most trying task, specially when I'm on the mood for multiples. What I mean is, can the coding be changed so that it be reduced to this simpled bit o'bitness: ? When quoting, I'm forced to open several windows and delete the quote-within-a-quote mess that sometimes occurs. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Yes. I've completely given up on quoting mutlipe parts/from diferent people/ It's not worth the trouble. If I really want to quote that much I double post.

I've been to a board once where they notified you everytime your name was in a post. Pretty cool stuff there.

I visited Filmtracks for the first time in 2 years yesterday.
That ratings system there has got to go. not only is it ancient, it's worthless. "Music as packaged," "Music in film," "Music as heard by my granny,".....please.
I have like 1800+ posts at the Scoreboard, but most of those date back damn near 10 years!! I have to say, that the Scoreboard has not modernized to any kind of neatness of organization is deplorable.

Yeah, I can't seem to figure out why everybody likes that system so much. I can't really see any logical benefits for having each post on a separate page.

I actually kind of prefer the system filmtracks uses in comparison with proboards or phpBB.

Well I do have quite a bias towards Proboards since I used to have an unofficial part in it. Still, organization is key to me, and Filmtracks doesn't really have it.
