Can any of you folks here point to some examples of 20th Century choral music like Lygeti's "Lux Aterna?" I'm not really talking about pieces like Oriff's "Carmina Burana," but more along the experimental kind.
Any help would be appreciated.

Eric Whitacre. His choral music is unlike any I have ever heard. It is simply fantastic.

The man mentions Lygeti, and you point him to Eric Whitacre? No, no, no. Unfortunately, that's about as much help as I can offer on the subject.
The only thing I can think of is Rothko Chapel by Morton Feldman, but I haven't listened to it in a while...it does feature a choir, but I can't remember for the life of me how much

He talked about 'experimental' and Whitacre's music is something I never heard before, so I classified him as experimental.

He's definitely a good one. Not Ligeti, but still a good one. Any other recommendations are welcome.

to be honest, you ought to just call up someone at a local college Choral Department or even high school (if they have a good, solid choral program), because there are SO many composers out there that do write good stuff. The educators are always kept abreast of the latest and the greatest music and should be able to point some composes out to you.
