Hey,
Is anyone going to the any of the John Williams concerts, with the NY Philharmonic, in NYC, September 14th-16th? I can't believe I didn't find out about this until today, when I decided to search some concert schedules. I decided to browse schedules because while at the Kennedy Center in DC (a Maggie Sansone concert), I saw that Kunzel would be conducting a fantastic JW concert there in October. While the NY concert isn't an all Williams affair, and there is a lot of musical stuff, Williams will be conducting stuff from Hook, Harry Potter, and Star Wars.
Here's the program for the NY event:
John Williams:
Sound the Bells!
John Williams:
Flight to Neverland from Hook
John Williams:
Suite from Jane Eyre (Lowood, To Thornfield, and Reunion)
John Williams:
Suite from the Harry Potter films (Hedwig’s Theme, Aunt Marge’s Waltz, Harry’s Wondrous World)
Bock/ John Williams:
Excerpts from Fiddler on the Roof
Whiting/ John Williams:
"Hooray for Hollywood" from Hollywood Hotel
Lane/ Lerner:
"You’re All the World to Me" from Royal Wedding
DePaul/ Mercer:
"Bless Your Beautiful Hide" from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
André Previn/ Betty Comden & Adolf Green:
"I Like Myself" from It's Always Fair Weather
Fain/ Freed:
"The Worry Song" from Anchors Aweigh
Brown/ Freed:
"Singin' in the Rain" from Singin' in the Rain
John Williams:
Sayuri's Theme from Memoirs of a Geisha
John Williams:
A Tribute to George Lucas and Steven Spielberg
I still haven't decided what ticket to get. For the Saturday performance, everything is sold out expect for some of the $115 and $145 dollar tickets. Uh, I have to decide quickly. The thing is that I will have to purchase a seat in a section, and I have no idea where this particular seat is. Also, "Processing of your charge does not guarantee your choice of seating" and there are no exchanges/refunds. Darn, must decide quickly. Too bad I can't use a camera as binoculars. I just might do this over the phone, even tough the fee is higher.... So, is anyone here going?
-Carlton
PS: The concert rehersal is Friday, the 14th at 9:45 am, and it costs ~ $20.
