I'm looking for funny, pointless movies. You know, the kind that you watch late at night with your friends and several bottles of alcohol. Yeah, those kind.
Here are a few examples to get everyone started:
Skit based movie (I'm particularly interested in more movies like these) Amazon Women on the Moon Kentucky Fried Movie
Spoof Airplane! (and its sequel) Hot Shots! (not quite up to the standard, but still amusing) Naked Gun 1 - 33 1/3 Top Secret!
Genre-defying masterpieces that make you a better, wiser person Army of Darkness Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Any suggestions?

Genre-defining masterpieces that make you a better person: The Big Lebowski Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Naked Lunch Videodrome Being John Malkovitch
Classic funny: Love & Death Animal House Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask
The Blues: Blue Velvet Le Grande Bleu The Blues Brothers
Or, you might just want to do what I do and have a crappy filmfest. This is one I did with a couple of friends back in Germany this Christmas:
DAY ONE Bride of the Monster Space Mutiny The German Fried Movie (Uwe Boll's first film, believe it or not) The Adventures of Pluto Nash Do or Die The Star Wars Holiday Special Pearl Harbor
DAY TWO The Sinister Urge Road House Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders House of the Dead Yor: Hunter from the Future Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones
DAY THREE Battlefield Earth Overdrawn at the Memory Bank Death Race 2000 Super Mario Bros. Heavy Metal Manos: The Hands of Fate Plan 9 From Outer Space[/b]
bold = absolute must see!
Also, regarding those films on the list that have been on MST3K, I seriously suggest you seek out the NON-MST3K versions. As much as I love Joel, Mike and the Bots, this sort of festival should be an opportunity to showcase YOUR movie-bashing wit! Plus, it makes films like Manos all the more painful (you can get the original versions at http://www.moviesunlimited.com).

Mike, Amen brother! To Jens ... this is one of those moments that show how different we two really are, despite all the cozy things we have in common... I consider The Big Lebowski, Being John Malkovich and Blue Velvet as 3 of the most overrated crap-fests of all time. Aside from those, your list is dead-on. So you did see the Bollwerk "House Of The Dead"? PLEASE tell me you also saw it with commentary!! It's HILARIOUS! Tell me a bit about German Fried Movie ... I dunno if I have the nerves to sit through that one ... Btw. I had a small sized festival myself a couple of weeks ago with "House Of The Dead" (twice, one time with, one time without commentary), "Catwoman", "Batman & Robin" and "Resident Evil 2". Yeah, my eyes bled, but it was fun.

I consider The Big Lebowski, Being John Malkovich and Blue Velvet as 3 of the most overrated crap-fests of all time. Depending on my mood, I might sometimes actually be inclined to agree with you on Blue Velvelt. However, I shall not tolerate you bad-mouthing Big Lebowski or Being John Malkovich, dammit! Aside from those, your list is dead-on. I should also add Whitnail and I to it. So you did see the Bollwerk "House Of The Dead"? PLEASE tell me you also saw it with commentary!! It's HILARIOUS! OF COURSE I saw it with commentary! Utter genious: "Heere is my goood freund Jürgen Prochnov... and look! He's vering ze hat he vore in zas Boot... my laa-ving tribute, zis is! Ah... and here's our big äkschn scene! Some people vüld argue zat a scene like zis belongs not in ze zombie film like zis, but, you knöööw, I really vanted to make an äkschn müvie - so here it is! ... Oh... now I haff my goood freund Christian Släter on ze phone... Hello Christian! You're on ze commentary! Ja!" Tell me a bit about German Fried Movie ... I dunno if I have the nerves to sit through that one ... It's Boll's feeble attempt at a Zucker-type parody of German reality TV shows. The Amazon.de description says it best, I think: Let's just say it's painfully violent, moronic, incompetent and unfunny -- quite possibly one of the very worst German films I've ever seen (and that's saying something, seeing as I despise most of the German cinema). Wonderfully, Dr. Boll has even written a book about the making of this stinker: German Fried Movie & Barschel-Mord in Genf. Oder wie man in Deutschland einen Film drehen muss. Pure hilarity.

Well, I'm afraid you have to live with it. Hey, like what you want, I'm sure I love some movies you hate. True. Ahem ... you did saw it with GERMAN commentary and just translated it for the other fans, right? Cause I'd love to hear the English one if there is one. But I assume you did translate, the phone calls and sh*t match the German drivel. Oh, I love it. The dogs that come in and fight ... the 4 phone calls that you actually HEAR, the talk about the ugly baby of the main actress, about her "great boobs" (dudes, someone might TELL HER WHAT YOU ARE SAYING HERE!), all the crap about how great the whole pile of sh*t is ... "How to make a movie in Germany" by Uwe Boll. NO COMEDIAN COULD COME UP WITH STUFF LIKE THAT. I'm almost tempted to read the book ... wow. As much as I'd like to see Boll dead/broke/down the drain ... I am so looking forward to his next disasters. It's all about the entertainment value. And we need MST3K Next Generation, dammit! (Btw. I totally agree that German movies SUCK. 99,958 % of them. "Lola rennt" was kinda cool though ... and maybe "Schuh des Manitu" ... Bully Herbig should make a 'real' movie; he's so damn capable of the craft!)

Classic funny:Love & Death Animal House Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask Hey, finally one I've seen. I'm sure you can guess which... Thanks for the suggestions! Once I finish moving (I'm currently in the early packing stage), I can assure you all the movies will be seen. ... a bunch of crappy movies Whoa! Sounds hard-core. I don't know if I'm strong enough to handle that. I mean, Pearl Harbor? *shiver* Have you ever seen a movie called "BlackMale," by any chance? I'm not sure if it's bad enough to make your list, but the movie still scarred me.

Noooooo, I've never heard the German commentary. I have heard the English commentary on the American DVD release -- hence my making fun of Mr. Boll's ridiculous accent. Oh, I love it. The dogs that come in and fight ... Dogs? That definitely wasn't on the commentary I heard. I'm almost tempted to read the book ... wow. Well, I've ordered my copy! Incidentially, Dr. Boll also wrote some highfalutin' book called Die Gattung Serie und ihre Genres
. The Amazon.de description of it is one of the most incomprehensible, confusing things I've ever read in my life: What the... ? As much as I'd like to see Boll dead/broke/down the drain ... I am so looking forward to his next disasters. You should check this out: Boll's official next project! Will you think me less of a man if I admit that I haven't seen a single one of those? Yes. Have you ever seen a movie called "BlackMale," by any chance? I'm not sure if it's bad enough to make your list, but the movie still scarred me. Not only have I seen Blackmale, but one of my best friends is an extra in it!

They Live -- It has a fight scene worthy of MST3K's "Deep Hurting". Also, one of the greatest lines ever as a character enters a bank. Spy Hard -- Spoof starring Leslie Nielsen. Bingo -- When you have a dog testifying on a courtroom and then sent to jail, you know it doesn't get sillier than that. Enjoy.

Spy Hard -- Spoof starring Leslie Nielsen. He said silly movies, not shitty movies.

It's the last decent spoof he made. It's not vintage comedy, but it has its moments and it's perfect for when you're peaking on controlled substances.

I'll have to disagree with you there. While I grant you Spy Hard is not as utterly rotten as say 2001: A Space Travesty or Wrongfully Accused, it is still painfully unfunny, controlled substances or no controlled substances!

A couple movies that I really enjoy:
Undercover Blues The Man Who Knew Too Little (you have to enjoy Bill Murray to like this one--I'm sure all the Brits at this website just love the premise: The dumbest American of all time outwits a whole lot of English folks ;D)

Dude, "Space Travesty" made me want to poke my eyes out ... "Wrongfully Accused" was mildly funny with a few pretty good gags. Don't put those 2 movies into the same cathegory.

Don't put those 2 movies into the same cathegory. But they are. I think it's called "comedy/spoof", innit?
