By the way, Carlton, I missed your birthday notice! Sorry for that. Anyway, has anyone commented on your cool look of "Professor Carlton Guthrie"? In each pic, no matter what the context, you can't help but think "That guy's tenured, I'll bet". ;D If you do ever end up teaching (happy belated birthday!) I know you won't have to think twice before breaking out the ol' fail menace some teachers enjoy. You know how it goes: "Look at the person on your left, now look at the person on your right. Of you three, only one will pass this course". Why? You look like a fun teacher. After all, this is out in the open, CG:

Yep, that is my place, and actually we were checking out the MMUK Board as we listened to whatever we were listening to.
To make it even more meta, I am sitting in exactly the same spot right now as I was in that first photo... and I'm posting a message on MMUK, about a picture of me sitting in exactly the same spot as I am right now, while I was posting a message on MMUK. Whoa!
Dammit. I had no idea I was so bald back there.

Pfft... the bald spot looks good on you. I'm not saying bald spots are pretty, just that in certain (lucky) people, a bald spot detracts absolutely nothing from the person. This coming from someone whose biggest fear is going bald. I've examined way too many heads, mostly while idling at crowded places. I mostly worry about Joey. He looks fit enough, he has the potential to tone those muscles up. What's keeping you, man? You build that chest and core and your programmer co-workers won't understand the mix between nerd and bulk. ;D Jon, is that the set-up you normally use to listen and subsequently review music? And, not to turn this thread back into Carlton's, but I found this photo and I have a question: Ok, which one is the cardboard cutout? ;D

This one is so meta, for example: Is that Jon's place? Ah, recalling the lawsuit threat... ... and gleefully counting the time. By the way, Carlton, I missed your birthday notice! Sorry for that. Anyway, has anyone commented on your cool look of "Professor Carlton Guthrie"? Oh, birthday. Darn, I'm getting older. Those reminders are hard to take... I can't teach myself to play recorder, but, professor, you say? I could, I could find a way to teach myself to get younger.... And so was this: Joey and I stopped at a store in Chinatown and they were selling turtles, Coca-cola, and tea. Damn, I should have brought a turtle, but we had to buy sombrero's so we could fit in. ;D Speaking of turtles, where the heck is PETA? -CG

And, not to turn this thread back into Carlton's, but I found this photo and I have a question... : Ok, which one is the cardboard cutout? ;D Let's turn it into to FSM. I've found a carboard cut-out, in a black T-shirt. Captain, can you guess his name?

I bet people are surprised to hear from me, because I'm supposed to be in basic training right now. Well, that's been postponed (not by me, by the Air Force...long story). It's still happening, but not with the linguist job I wanted (and had actually signed a contract for). Also, because they sprung that on me last minute (two weeks before I was supposed to ship out) after I'd already given my workplace and landlord notice that I was leaving, for this interim period Francesca and I are now living in the Houston area with my family at my parent's gracious invitation. Too bad I didn't get to see Jon to say goodbye (and get all my CDs back!) but it was great to spend time with Joey and Carlton, and here are a few extra pictures that Francesca recently put up on Facebook for me to share. I'll include the most relevant ones in this post but you can see them all here: www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2124052&id=200903026&ref=nfMany of these are from our Descanso Gardens outing. A couple of hungry guys. Another hungry guy (yes, the squirrel is eating the pumpkin). A freaking HUGE hungry looking spider that caused us some alarm. Some hungry ducks and a goose (I've never seen a bird ravenously eating GRASS before, but these guys were tearing into it!) More duck-duck-goose. (even more available at the Facebook link) Yeah, I wish we'd saved some of our bread from lunch because these guys kept following us all over the place in the hopes of us feeding them! Remember what I said about grass? Off we go on our manly adventure... Yavar

And finally, the culmination of our Adventure: El Capital Theatre in Hollywood! And what great film are we seeing? Yep, all four of us spent $22 a ticket for the deluxe reserved seats with included popcorn (there were like twelve other people in the huge theater...though that may have been because it was an evening showing of a kid's flick.) I was in it for the SCORE, I tells ya! Joel McNeely is AWESOME and in my opinion his score to the first film is one of the very best of the past decade. Although the movie is decently cute, too. (Just ask Joey and Carlton...they had a good time...right guys? Uh, guys?) Well, Francesca's a big fan of the movies, anyways. They're cute and the animation is breathtaking at times, especially in this limited theatrical engagement. But the score was amazing to hear all around us. A bit too mickey-mousy at first but once Tinkerbell begins her epic journey it's just incredible. (By the way, not a single note is available for purchase as compared with the "generous" seven minute suite we got from the first film...99 cents on iTunes for that track, just so you know.) Okay, I guess I'm excited here (and embarrassed). Observe Joey's amused expression caught in the reflection to the right of me. Some more establishing shots. Two brave souls venture forth. Some shots of the interior. Sadly we didn't get any of Tinkerbell's live dance performance. And here's a final before/after: I don't seem to remember either Joey or Carlton mentioning this little taste of Hollywood. Yavar

I don't seem to remember either Joey or Carlton mentioning this little taste of Hollywood. Ah, Hollywood at its finest. Thanks for posting the pics. I would add a few more comments, but my library (internet) session is almost up and my home computer needs to be repaired... Btw, anyone, is Kevin's YouTube worth, say 5 minutes, of my "limited" time? -CG
