Well friends, I had the pleasure of meeting two regulars here Joey and Carlton who flew in for the John Williams concert. What sweet guys! We had lunch on an open air deck over the ocean at Moon Shadows, a restaurant in Malibu. Afterwards Jon brought us to his home. I watched Joey and Carlton's eyes open wide as the entered the sanctuary, the Holy Of Holies to view "The Collection"! Their gaping mouths hit the floor! Boy these young pups are just starting out on the path and we listened to countless great scores. Later Ami, Jon's wife cooked us beef Wellington! How cool was that.
I am sure Jon will be posting some pictures soon.
Yvar, you remain illusive and I begin to believe you work for the CIA! I am still hoping that you join us on our next adventure so I can get to meet you.
Anyway, it was a great day, a fun day and a happy day since I made two new friends. Thanks Jon as always for your generosity and hospitality.

sorry I couldn't make it. Life seems so much busier/tiring when working as opposed to school. Sounds like it was a blast! i'm also glad I chose the holylwood bowl instead of the LA Phil after seeing the setlist, since the one at the Bowl was all Williams--was nice to hear an all williams concert conducted by WIlliams, though I'm sure others have experienced that before.

Joey looks a bit as if he's thinking "I dunno about this". ;D I'm glad you all had such a wonderful time!

Great times everyone! I really hate how I look in that picture though...

On the left is Jangles (Joey) who used to be skinnier but bulked up and on the right is Carlton, whose score fro used to match his waist, but now is much more slender. Not to mention Jonathan's gym schedule. Don't know about Craig, but he looks appropriate for his age.
I dunno what's going on, but us score geeks are toning it up. I used to be all scrawny and helpless and now actually look healthy. Weird.

I may be the only one who's actually getting fatter (not a good thing as a gay guy in this day and age, lemme tell ya!). Damn all that North American fastfood. Whenever I want something healthy, I go to the German Import Store: proper rye bread at last! CK

As a new college student (and I realize this has nothing to do with the topic), I'm surprised I haven't gained that much weight. I'm about the same...I thought I'd be getting bigger pretty quickly, but that doesn't seem to be the case!

Just some random advice for a new college student - don't waste too much time listening to and collecting scores and/or playing online games (Team Fortress 2 or WOW or whatever). Don't study either until your last two years when you take your major courses. Focus on having fun!

I agree with Jangles. My biggest regrets in college:
Getting addicted to a MMORPG my freshman year. Not allocating more funds to socializing.
(as for me, I stopped studying my last two years =D)

Wow, time really goes fast... Craig really is the nicest man on the internet, though Jon is a really nice guy, too, and his wife Ami is a wonderful cook. Her home-cooked beef wellington was a delicious surprise. Homemade meals are such a rarity. I really have to wean myself off of 25 Burgers, the Bound Brook Diner, Pizza Lovers, and all of these other food places. Damn, maybe next year, maybe... ;D Now, I know Ami thought the beef was overcooked, and, maybe it is me, but I think meat taste so much better when it's well-done. I guess this is a matter that that the the super-taster, Brendan, should resolve. The elusive Yavar and his wife Francesca are a cool and delightful couple. It was really generous of them to spend a whole day with Joey and I, on their day off, especially with Yavar's upcoming service date approaching. I was having doubts about dragging Joey along on a 4 hour plus car ride to view caves, and one of my cousins wasn't that impressed with the Channel Islands, so hanging out with Yavar and Francesca turned out to be a good alternative. Also, Francesca your help with driving was a huge relief... Joey, I don't what to say except for I'm not buying you dinner. ;D I'm just kidding. Thanks for being such a good sport. I know we had our troubles on the road. Now, I did see that stop sign - the one I ran through. It's just that I'm not use to a main road having a stop sign on essentially a three-way intersection. I was looking to my right to make sure nothing was coming along, and I was looking ahead because a truck was camped out in the lane, so I was going to have to drive into the opposing lane... And yes, there was a park on the left, and a stop sign too. I must apologize for making you gasp so many times, while I was driving, because I know the feeling.... When you took of the side mirror of the car, whew! Yeah, Joey, I was little too stubborn at times. A GPS system is a must. My memory, and atlas reading, let's just say that it wasn't the best, but ever trip needs some "memorable" moments right? ;D Darn, I really didn't take enough pictures. I didn't capture any shots of our darker moments on the road, or group shots with my uncle, or you licking your plate, and staring at that waitress, at that place in Silver Lake. . Anyway, thanks Jon, Ami, Craig, Yavar, Francesca, and Joey for making my excursion to LA such a memorable one. -CG

I'll attest to the coolness of the album, but the pics you posted don't make it justice. This one is so meta, for example: Is that Jon's place? _ Sure you do, Jangles. Sure you do. ;D Part of army training, no doubt. Conducting "Building the Crate"; though I don't think you can replace kazoos with ducks, Yavar. Wait, if the computer's to the left and this massive CD collection covers the wall... ...then you guys weren't watching TV at all as I first thought. You were watching... music. Actually seeing the music. This album impressed me. And has caused my envy index to cross uncharted territories.
