When will we decide if the thing actually becomes a thing? it's very possible that all 4 in my fam would be interested in this....it's john williams! but i still want to partake in the group hangout stuff.... I guess it offically becomes a thing once airline tickets are booked and concert tickets are ordered. I suppose that the LA Philharmonic tickets go on sale, for non-subscribers, some time in May/June for the 2009/2010 Season. Right now, I guess where just in the gathering stage of finding out what's the best time for everyone to come. Personally, I can make it out there at anytime. It's just a matter of finding the right airline ticket. Concert-wise, I don't mind watching JW conduct music from Hollywood (the October concerts), or doing his annual Hollywood Bowl concert. I think the consensus is that a Saturday concert works the best. Now, it's just a matter of organzing some kind of a vactation (or gathering) schedule around a concert. Btw, here's the preview of the upcoming October concert. If the playlist is anything like this, it will be one heck of an event. "October 16 – 18, 2009 John Williams, conductor Music from the City of Angels In celebration of film music - one of L.A's greatest contributions to the music world - the leading cinematic composer of our time curates and conducts a program of "old and new Hollywood,"including works by such masters as Herrmann, Korngold, Previn, Rosenman, Waxman and, of course, Williams himself." www.laphil.com/press/press_kits/wdch_pk_2009/0910_season.pdf-CG

Guys, I have the money (and power!), the time (and power!!), and will (and power!!!, say it, dammit), but like I said before it's up to the U.S. embassy and, so far, it doesn't look good. I know of two girls who tried to apply for a visa who were both underage and on their way to a tennis tournament (the whole purpose of the trip, not to mention SPEND MONEY on your ailing economy) and were denied. You can thank Lou Dobbs and all your paranoid Republicans who've never left the country for that. So, as usual, I'm gonna have to lie my ass off (or lie to my ass, like "attending" several universities and impregnating an unsuspecting woman who will be the unsuspecting carrier of my unsuspecting child, therefore having an unsuspecting family who depends on me to be their suspecting caregiver).
Or, you know what? Maybe I should get myself a turban, wrap it around my head, and record a video of myself saying "death to America" and spread it over the internet. I heard it's easier to into the country that way.

If you really had the money AND the power, it wouldn't be up to the US Embassy

Why do you need a visa for a simple vacation? Doesn't a passport suffice? Are you planning on staying longer than 90 days? As for the concert, a Saturday sounds good. We might want to contact the L.A. Phil's group sales office with a rough estimate to see if we can get a block of seats put on hold early-on...that way we wouldn't be scattered all over the hall. However, that does assume everyone is content with the same ticket-price range...and I want some good tickets gosh darn it! I was just browsing through visa sites, and damn Signapore is a visa-waiver country. Anyway, I still think you have an outside shot: travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/denials/denials_1361.htmlhonda.house.gov/faq_cs-visas.shtml-CG PS: Hey, would you mind getting married for a chance to see John Williams?

Why do you need a visa for a simple vacation? Doesn't a passport suffice? Because our government thinks he's not going to go back home... I think everyone wants to be able to see JW. So what section do you reccomend? Have you seen the seating chart? There are so many sections to choose from. www.laphil.com/tickets/seating_chart.cfm

Getting the time off is going to be a challenge, but if the Hook is in, I'm in.
Need Hook confirmation.

I have a counter gathering offer. How about we all meet in Minnesota this weekend. It's going to be 20 below zero and I hear Ashley Simpson is going to be here! That would be cool, then I could ride my bicycle to wherever we meet (which I seriously do in below-zero weather all the time). However, I've yet to hear of any notable composer coming to MN*, and a film score legend is after all what everyone wants to see. *Howard Shore did show up in Minneapolis for the LOTR symphony, but I was/am an idiot and missed it.
