I find it quite interesting that nobody really wants to talk about it. Other than Armin. Tom I think this is simply due to the fact that nobody owns the score. I don't. I do have LA Conf., but that's not enough to compare it to another one. Armin’s right. I can’t talk about it because I haven’t heard neither of the scores, in film or on cd (though I did catch a small part of LA. Confidential awhile ago). Hmmm, I wonder who else hasn’t heard “On the Waterfront” or “LA Confidential”. Hello. Greetings to all. This is my first appearance in this forum. Sorry for my bad English My name is Markus Wippel and I´m from Austria. I´m collecting soundtracks for almost 14 years.... Should we list our CD Collection in this TOPIC? ? Hmmm. I wonder the heck is in his collection. Between us we all probably own every score ever released! Really? Hmmm, I wonder what are the most popular scores in our collections. Does everyone have the Conan the Barbarian score? I was shocked that Smalltown just got it last year and that Yavar didn’t have it. Hmmm, I wonder who else is committing the blasphemous act of not having the Conan music from Varese. Tom, have you heard ANYTHING from the 80's onwards? Hmmm. I wonder what Tom has heard. Does he have more than two post 1980’s score? ;D All of these posts have got me saying “Hmmm.” So, I wonder if we should start a never-ending Mega Project to answer all of these previous questions. Yes, a Board Collection List would provide all of the answers to those “hmmm questions.” Who knows, maybe an ambitious poster can collect all of the data into a MiketheRookie-like Excel Sheet with columns of useless data. ;D I suppose we should limit the first comprehensive limit to “hard” copies. I’ll get the ball rolling. I suppose this could orgainized better, but here it is. I have the year of the soundtack on some of the listings because I intially cut and pasted this list from soundtrackcollector.com. [edit]Hey, here's the quicker way though it's still a little incomplete: www.filmtracks.com/scoreboard/main.cgi?profile=carltonRozsa: To Everything There is A Season (lp) -Carlton PS: I already know what most of Jon Broxton and Southall's list....

I do own Conan, Conan 2 ( ;D), Conan Outtakes, Sword and Sorcery Adventure, some Conan Complete CD. But that still doesn't mean it's in my favorites. I can really understand why somebody would not bother buying it. Hmmm. I wonder what Tom has heard. Does he have more than two post 1980’s score? ;D He definitely has a lot more, but it depends on where your interests are. I actually own a lot of "older" scores, just not the ones people have mentioned here. I also do not listen to them as much as the more recent stuff. Still, they're sitting on my shelve somewhere. All of these posts have got me saying “Hmmm.” So, I wonder if we should start a never-ending Mega Project to answer all of these previous questions. Yes, a Board Collection List would provide all of the answers to those “hmmm questions.” I think it's a good thing to make such a threah, but again, Carlton: people's concentration goes off after 10" of continuous post, so I think we'll have much more success if we divide the thread in slightly shorter posts. Also, I'd prefer it if people asked directly in that thread, so memory can be refreshed without having to go looking what it was about somewhere else. If there are general question though, about ANYTHING, I am all for it. Nobody should feel worried or ashamed to ask if something is not clear or has been on his/her mind for ages but never dared to ask. Also stuff regarding personal things - film music community related, obviously. Who knows, maybe an ambitious poster can collect all of the data into a MiketheRookie-like Excel Sheet with columns of useless data. ;D My collection already is in Excel format and I am definitely NOT going to put a 1500-2000 CD list here. If somebody wants to be nuts and compile a complete list I suggest collecting them via email. Also, by the time it will come out I'll most likely have hundreds of new CD's...

Who knows, maybe an ambitious poster can collect all of the data into a MiketheRookie-like Excel Sheet with columns of useless data. First off, it's Access, not Excel. Access allows me to run all sorts of somewhat-interesting but unnecessary queries (number of scores purchased in a time period, etc). I wouldn't be oppossed to doing something like that, except that I don't see any way to make it useful. It would certainly be a time-consuming task. Sure, it would be neat to know that 5 people on the boards own the Varese Conan, and be able to find out which 5, but how many people would use something like that?

Why the F is this in Swap Shop? That is a good question. I thought it was in somewhere else. Or maybe I just didn't pay attention.

I so gave that up after the 500 CD mark. There was no point in it anyway, because everybody needed too long to get through the list. I started scanning my covers, so that's how I make up for not using thumbs. Wasn't somebody else planning to scan his whole collection? James? Peter? If you're on the way we might work out a deal...

I've reached the 90% mark in my "ripping my entire collection to MP3" project, so I'm also now in a position to get my score database up-to-date. Once it's done I might put it online as a read-only Excel file, so everyone can take a look at what I have.

Oh, I didn't scan the covers...simply took them from Amazon, Intrada, fan sites, Jon's site... ;D

You'd be seriously nuts to scan all your covers to then make thumbs out of them. I find the cover scans extremely handy though. Good for trading, reference, helping out people and just beautiful to browse through on the verge of insanity - should that ever happen. ;D
