Korngold liked to use his film themes in his concert works and this wonderful love theme from Sea Wolf is elegantly developed in the third movement of this quartet.

Yeah I'm really not sure what to think about him doing this. I mean I guess it takes the heat off Horner a bit...
I'll never be able to take his violin concerto seriously

To a great degree both Rozsa and Korngold were as much classical composers as film. They seem to be getting a whole lot more attention lately. I enjoy all of the works that Waxman, Rozsa, Herrmann, and Korngold did.

Yeah I'm really not sure what to think about him doing this. I mean I guess it takes the heat off Horner a bit... I'll never be able to take his violin concerto seriously I'd be fine with it except the inclusion of film themes seems forced. They sound much more natural in their original incarnations. Now on the other hand when Rozsa used his violin concerto as the basis for much of his score to The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, it all felt perfectly natural and...perfect, in the film. Yavar
