For the sake of historical record, it should be noted that Clark (aka indy2003) and Jens (aka Jens) have officially met. Jens and I (and my wife, and a friend of Jens whose name I unfortunately can't recall at the moment) met up at an Atlanta theatre on Wednesday of this week to see "The Orphanage". I thought it was quite excellent, though Jens correctly noted that it has "too much closure". Even so, a superb Spanish horror film, highly recommended. If you enjoyed "The Devil's Backbone" and "Pan's Labyrinth", I suspect you'll like this very much as well. So, before and after the movie, we chatted about all kinds of odds and ends, everything from movies to film scores to iphones to the oddness of having lots of bikinis in an art movie trailer. It was a most enjoyable meeting. And Jens, thanks again for the generous birthday gift. I can't wait to watch it, I'll be digging into it as soon as I finish a couple of DVD review assignments... looking forward to catching another movie with you sometime! Back at ya later

Thanks, Clark. It was certainly a pleasure to meet you and your charming wife, and the fact that we ended up seeing a most excellent film certainly contributed to the general good spirits of it all. Boy, I hadn't thought about Burn Hollywood Burn: An Alan Smithee Film for years...
I really hope you enjoy Conchords. Let me know what you think once you've seen a few episodes.
P.S. What was that strange art house flick with all the bikini-clad babes and sun bathing in it? P.P.S. Considering our discussion regarding standards of violence in movies, I'm eager to hear your thoughts on Rambo.

P.S. What was that strange art house flick with all the bikini-clad babes and sun bathing in it? P.P.S. Considering our discussion regarding standards of violence in movies, I'm eager to hear your thoughts on Rambo. 1. The movie with all the sun bathing and bikini-clad babes in it was "Life Before Her Eyes". From what I remember, the trailer didn't really indicate what took place in the film aside from informing us that there would be tears, dramatic moments, Uma Thurman, and a lot of bikinis. 2. Unfortunately, due to the incompetence of the people who work at my local theatre, I was unable to see "Rambo". It started forty minutes late, then the projector broke down two minutes into it, and before long I needed to get to my screening of "Untraceable" (which I have mixed feelings about). So, I just got a raincheck for "Rambo", perhaps I'll go see it later on. Back at ya later

I can't quite put my finger on the reason, but that description somehow caused me to burst out loud laughing just now. 2. You won't regret it. It shares all the same flaws as the previous two Rambo movies, of course: an utterly predictable plot, bad acting and melodramatic dialogue. It's also way too short and the music isn't much good, apart from the three Goldsmith tracks.
HOWEVER, the battle scenes are a sight to behold. A bloody, glorious sight. Not since Soldier Blue...
