Ah, good old pro bono work. It may not pay the bills, but it does sometimes get one invited to some fabulously exclusive (and, for common people, expensive) events, such as the charity ball "Taste of a Nation", held once a year right here in Atlanta, at which the city's most renowned chefs gather to serve free ultra-posh grub and the finest wines, only to see them tossed into the garbage half-eaten by unappreciative philistines. Veronica (who some of you may remember from the last London Mini-Gathering) and myself, ready to go. Still, I'll take any opportunity to dress up in expensive Italian clothes and stuff my face like a Hobbit on his 111th birthday. Finally, it was my turn to get what was coming to me, from truffles, caviar and filet mignon to a $200 tax rebate. This year the ball was held at the brand-new Atlanta Aquarium, which was, of course, closed off to the filthy general public. "I sure am glad the filthy general public isn't allowed in today", I remarked to Veronica. This event also allowed me to mingle (and network) with my fellow graphic designers from Adrenaline. Being usually freelance, my presence at their table perplexed some. Adrenaline Designer: So... why are you here? Me: I'm an eccentric millionaire playboy and your new owner. I liked the designs so much, I bought the company! Sorry, I just felt like sharing. (i.e. bragging)

Does this belong in the Gathering section? Answer: no. Punishment:

Seeing how it is primarily about a gathering, and involving more than one person from a previous gathering, I'd say it very firmly belongs in the Gatherings forum.
And don't you ever post Star Wars prequel trilogy pictures at me again!

Unggghhh...anything below three persons is a Mini-Gathering. But OK, your post may remain here. (Says he who has no power to make such decisions!) Don't explode or kill another dog. Please!

So that's how Mr Williams reacted to Santalolly's Oscar win!

Jesus! MsPaint strikes again!
Speaking of horrible graphics, Kuhni, what the hell is your avatar supposed to be?

Jesus! MsPaint strikes again! Speaking of horrible graphics, Kuhni, what the hell is your avatar supposed to be? Yeah, MsPaint is great! ;D In all honesty, though, I wish I had your abilities with graphic design and image processing, Jens...would look very good on my CV. My avatar is a thin section of a rock, as seen under crossed polarizers in a binocular. Geology-stuff, you wouldn't understand. BTW - will you be back BRD-wise for the World Cup?

Dammit, Kuhni, why did you just change the image on me? Now not only does my previous post not make any sense, but anybody looking at yours will be confused by the fact the Williams looks like Howard Shore and is apparently celebrating Santalolly's victory. What the hell, man? In all honesty, though, I wish I had your abilities with graphic design and image processing, Jens...would look very good on my CV. To be honest, you haven't really seen any good work of mine on here. The stuff I put together as a joke for the forum is really rushed and slapdash. What's a CV? Geology-stuff, you wouldn't understand. Me mighty impressed with black magic rock knowledge. Me want magic rock wizard to teach! Heap interesting! BTW - will you be back BRD-wise for the World Cup? Never!

It stands for Curriculum Vitae. It the term we English people use instead of "resume". And certain Germans, it seems. I guess the literal translation from Latin is something along the lines of "manuscript setting out one's life"

I think a CV is more aimed toward academic accomplishments and is more approriate for professors/those in academia. One of my professors (Dr. Apalkov) has a really nice one, but he still doesn't know that being right and "being write" aren't the same thing. He also drives 55 on GA 400.

N8 Well, unless Jens is going the polygamy route, I don't think he's marrying Veronica... You didn't get the cute engagement photo? It's in one of these threads.

Jens! Is Veronica the woman I hear rumor's of you marrying? If so...congradulations good man! And looking as dashing in that suit as ever! Why, thank you! But no, I'm not marrying Veronica. Considering the nature of our long friendship, that would be a bit like marrying my sister. The wedding thread is here, my dickie old chum.
