A wonderful CD (serving as the soundtrack to Dancer In The Dark) with lyrical and moving songs from Björk. Probably her most rewarding album, because she combines her usual poetic lyrics with recognisable melodies and beautiful orchestrations (combining orchestra and electronic to great storytelling effect). The film itself was pretty good; quite harrowing, although the particular style of cinematography doesn't really appeal to me.

However I find the album versions of the songs a bit lacking the power of the original song performed in movie. For example Cvalda (Catherine Deneuve+Bjork), a song Bjork is singing together with David Morse and her film-son (forget the title, sorry) and my own favorite "In the Musicals", fantastic musical number Bjork is performing together with Joel Grey in the famous courtroom scene (the arrangements and choreography are taken straight from 1950's musicals - I think that was the aim of Von Trier and Bjork). Too bad that on the album she sings it alone (but I have the film version of this song ripped from the movie ).
