Now I am not saying it is at ALL strange for a film music fan to also like heavy metal, but is your new complete and utter conversion over to this kind of music an explanation for your absence? Well, I've always been into the classics. You know, your Led Zeppelins, Iron Maidens, Black Sabbaths and Jethro Tulls -- it really isn't much of a step from that to European power metal. Still, there's a variety of factors involved: 1. The deaths of Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein and Basil Poledouris. With my three favorite composers of all time gone, most my ties to the world of film scores have been cut. It's all just a little too... sad. Doyle, Giacchino and Arnold are still there, and I'll pick up pretty much anything they do, but that's really it. 2. The iTunes store. Ever since I've become a Mac user and created an account with iTunes, my consuption of non-scores has gone up dramatically. I'll sometimes spend days exploring the thing, checking out recommendations and playlists, purchasing song after song. As a result, I've been really getting into hardcore punk, alternative rock, new wave and, of course, every possible permutation of the metal (though I still have trouble stomaching a lot of "nu-metal"). It's addictive! 3. Aspirations of Rock-Godness. The guitar you see in my current avatar is no random bass, it is the Dean Metalman V I purchased two months ago and have been trying to learn how to play. Am I any good, you ask? The answer is no. Now that I've rambled off topic long enough, I'm going to attempt to tie this post back into this thread... As much as I credit iTunes with reinvigorating my love for a variety of musical genres, I must also curse it for introducing me to some of the worst music I've ever heard, and to my new nemesis, Nelly Furtado: Yes, for some inexplicable reason Apple has plastered Furtado's new album "Loose" all over their new promotional materials. This is the groundbreaking album that features such hits as "Maneater", "Promiscuous", "Sellout", "Whores, Whores, Whores" and "I am an Untalented Slut". I don't know what I find more irritating about Furtado, her shrill voice, phoney hip-hop attitute, moronic lyrics or the fact that it's almost impossible to understand said lyrics! Oh, I guess it's that last point. A friend of mine from another forum -- I know him only as "CollegeBinary" -- recently made a video attempting to transcribe the lyrics of "Maneater". This is the result: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQexbdNv7YM

Holy crap! That is better than any of the lightsaber fights in the movies! The Revenge of the Sith fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin would've been the best if it was one continuous scene without being broken up by other crap. -Nate

They made a sequel to Ryan vs Dorkman with an actual budget and an original score that was recorded with a live orchestra, but it feels like a retread that's not as good as the original.

I don't get why they title these as "banned commercials" as if MasterCard actually paid to have this obvious zero budget student (but funny) film made.
