Geez, I'm offline for the weekend and come back to find the ladies thread completely taken over by straight men professing their admiration for guys who are "cool and manly, yet sensitive." It's quite alright, though, because this thread would be dead if you guys didn't post, since it's just me and Christian. And maybe, just maybe, I find it all highly amusing. Jens--I third ( ) the British chaps, including Alan Rickman. I had a thing for Jeremy Northam when The Net came out and I was all of 12. Also add to my list: Ryan Gosling www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0332280/Ss/0332280/notebook_2801_Max.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Gosling%20Ryan%20(I)Dermot Mulroney www.imdb.com/gallery/granitz/0416-caa/Events/0416-caa/mulroney.der?path=pgallery&path_key=Mulroney%20DermotHugh Jackman www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0290334/Ss/0290334/X2-062.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Jackman%20Hugh Brilliant, Mac, just brilliant. You've actually managed to top my Scoreboard toga pic. This comment really sparked my curiosity (most likely because I'm trying to delay writing my cognitive processes paper for as long as possible), so I plugged "toga" and "Jens" into the ol' Scoreboard search engine. Didn't see the picture of course, but I did find some rather funny Gathering reports and several "Best of the Filmtrack's Scoreboard." Kept me occupied for quite awhile actually......of course, my paper still isn't written. Em

It's because straight men are repressed homosexuals, who harbor hidden unconscious desires toward thier father, but thier obssession with the mother tends to obscure this homosexual urge (see Frued), which causes exterme cases of denial. Can you direct me to where you read/learned this? I am only aware of Freud's theory in which little boys desire their mothers and hate/envy/want to kill their fathers because they possess the object of their desire. However, they realize their fathers are bigger and stronger, and thus seek to avoid conflict for fear of castration. As an alternative, young boys try to become like their fathers (identification process) by imitating their actions and adopting their beliefs, values, ideals, etc. so that they may "join ranks" with their fathers (this identification process is the psychoanalytic explanation for how children come to have an understanding of gender concepts and roles). All of this is otherwise known as the Oedipal conflict which occurs in the phallic stage (which is then followed by shame and repression of their incestuous feelings in the latency stage). A very similar process occurs for girls, but with some mumbo jumbo about "penis envy." Um, yeah....no...... Sorry for the book, but I don't think Freud asserted that straight men are repressed homosexuals. I know he did address homosexuality, but didn't generalize his theory to apply to all people. Anyways, Freud's theories may still be often discussed and studied, but in the actual field of psychology they are usually given very little credence. Em

That is so not true. Went to see Freud. He's dead. I prefer Kant anyways. pete.

;D Oh, man. Carlton, next time you make a joke, make sure you stamp Ahnold in there. Unless people start arguing the political viewpoints of barbarism. But now that it has come to this, everyone, be honest. Which one?

Didn't see the picture of course. Yeah, the pic used to be up on my profile, but it hasn't been there for a considerable while. I do still have one version on my server to show you, though it has been badly cropped and resized: Doesn't really do the original pic justice, I'm afraid. Can you direct me to where you read/learned this? I am only aware of Freud's theory in which little boys desire their mothers and hate/envy/want to kill their fathers because they possess the object of their desire. Carlton doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. I, too, studied psychology in school (and have always been very interested in Freud), and never, NEVER have I ever come accross anything even remotely resembling Carlton's "repressed homosexuals" theory.

Bearded Ryan Reynolds: The Amityville Hottie. Ready to crush some vampires with his abs. In an SUV with some kind of albino baboon.

Ready to crush some vampires with his abs. Mmm mmm mmmmmm......... I think I'll be renting me some Blade: Trinity . Seriously, those are some gnarly looking abs.... In an SUV with some kind of albino baboon. So hilariously accurate. I loved Ryan Reynolds on Two Guys and a Girl, and Van Wilder had its moments (minus Tara Reid). Just can't picture him with Alanis Morissette . Em

Hunk or no hunk, I'd seriously advise against it. Eh, I've probably seen worse movies. Much worse. And about that toga pic--- ;D. By the way, do you ever smile in your pictures? I've only seen a few, but you've always got this smug, sometimes verging on disgusted look on your face. Em

I thought you were the "Time: Man (Person) of the Year." Don't tell me that they took the honour away and gave it to... George Dubya Bush. Darn Editors. Actually, no one can talk about Hell because nobody's been there, with the exception of Dante, of course. Then again some people probably have been to Hell, but we'll never listen to them. Darn Evangelicals. Now before I go into my Swaggart-like Confession, I'll post another picture for the ladies: He is sooo sensitive... He's so hot that even prostitutes pay him to have sex ;D news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/february/21/newsid_2565000/2565197.stmAfter seeing how people are reacting to my earlier post, I'm tempted to say that I too have committed a pecadillo, but instead, I'll once again proclaim that I was only attempting to explain why so many hetero's were posting on a ladies thread. It was just my own revisionist theory. Folks, It was only a Riddle- the Riddle of Frued. Like so many others, I went on a journey to find the answer to this riddle, and I asked myself this infamous question: What would Freud say? ;D So, like Freud, I attempted to understand the male postings on the ladies thread, in terms of a "universal bisexuality" standpoint (see article below). uk.encarta.msn.com/encnet/refpages/RefArticle.aspx?refid=761562012While on my journey, I discarded genetic teachings, and I remembered what I read about pyschoanylasis, bonobo communities, prison rapes, the male obsession with the anus (Freud had something to say about this too), and so on. All of these recollections lead me to theorize that all men are "repressed homosexuals."... But then I came across a evil sorcerer who possessed the power to understand Biology, and I asked him, "What is the Riddle of Frued?" He proceeded to give me the answer by posing yet another question: "What are (Freudian) theories compared to the Scientific Mind that assembles them? I think it's now time for all of us to contemplate this on the Tree of Woe. Sorry Hook but I could not find a picture of Conan (Ahnold) crying.... I'd ask that your precious blood would wash and cleanse every stain until it is in the sea of forgiveness because I couldn't find ANY pictures of Conan shedding tears. Conan is a Cimmerian, he will not cry. Fortunately Jimmy Swaggart, the guy who they named that physchology term after, loves to cry. So If anyone has more pics of Swaggart crying, post away because the ladies love sensitive guys who know how to cry. ;D -Carlton

What would Freud say? He would say: "Get my frickin' name right, already. It's "eu", you repressed homosexual."

And further he'd say: "Listen to the musical "Freudiana" by The Alan Parsons Project, 'cause it's one of the best albums of the world." Ok, *I* would say so, but hey ... would you believe ME or a homophobic little psycho? And PT ...before you ask: THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!
