A friend of mine lined up at Futureshop last night and waited nearly ten hours at near-freezing temperatures for the store to open. He was 15th in line (there were 30 in stock) and so managed to snag one, along with Twilight Princess, Red Steel, and some sports game. I must reluctantly admit that I'm itching to try out this Wiimoute thing and see what the fuss is all about for myself....

My roommate waited at Hasting for about 13 hours to get one, and he did, so that is what he has been doing all day while I am in my room doing a project and a calculus test. Oodles of fun.
I have yet to play with it, but I really don't want to that much. Mainly because my roommate has been annoying me for a while now...hmm...I still have FFXII to play, and that is far superior to the new Zelda which is being played about 10 feet away from me as I type this.

I went to target at 4:30 am. I was #61 in line. By 6:30am, all 114 were pretty much spoken for. They were very organized and handed out tickets a little after 7am and let us in 10 at a time to buy.

You are seriously... a bit nuts. And I thought queueing was an English thing... Computers are much more useful than a console. Playing games is boring.

I´m going with the PS3 cuz there are too much Sony only series that will continue next year (Ratchet&Clank, Devil May Cry 4 for example) and i´m with sony since they released the psone. I´m sure i´ll by the PS4 in 6 years... No gamer should miss the epic damn-good-looking action games with huge orchestral score... Man i want to have Mercenaries 2 NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DMC4, while a sony exclusive now, is probably going to come out for 360 given the installed base. There's even rumor that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be ported to the 360, leaving the only prominent Sony exclusive franchises to be Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy XIII. BTW: You're gonna have to wait until summer for Mercs 2, and if you think that's PS3 only, just wait and see. Remember Assassin's Creed?

Yeah, and both Fatal Inertia and Bladestorm are going to be ported to the Xbox. BTW: You're gonna have to wait until summer for Mercs 2, and if you think that's PS3 only, just wait and see. Is that, too, going to be graced by the Tilton touch?

Is that, too, going to be graced by the Tilton touch? Yes, we are recording in mid-January.

About Final Fantasy, check out this weird quote from Senior VP of Square Enix: "We don't want PlayStation 3 to be the overwhelming loser, so we want to support them. But we don't want them to be the overwhelming winner either, so we can't support them too much." www.joystiq.com/2006/09/26/square-enix-commits-to-no-one-or-is-it-everyone/I'm sure barring a major failure by Sony (not likely), Final Fantasy XIII will stay PS3 exclusive. But, I wonder what will happen if Sony doesn't get their act together by then. Still, if Sony can lower the price once there are enough units for someone to walk into a store and get one, and nab a few new exclusives, I'm sure they will come out on top again. If they don't, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft keeps its lead in North America (while still being killed in Japan). Considering that North America is such a big market, it will be interesting to see where things turn out.

I think it's all really going to be up in the air until we get closer to Fall '07.
