Elections have consequences. They reflect the will of the governed. People voted for Democrats to run our government, and they should be allowed to enact their governing philosophy. This is why we have elections!
Hey, has your objection to the "supermajority" process changed since the passage of a healthcare bill in the Senate?
Probably unrelated to the original topic, but...

Good read shows that, statistically, liberals are stingy when it comes to charity, and republicans give about twice as much.
I can't really say that it's a good read. Hook brings up some good points. Anyway, that Christmas article got my thinking about my previous Christmas bonus. My boss threw some charity my way, and he increased his donation to my "negative rate of return" 401K plan . Why was the boss so generous last holiday season? Because he got some kind of tax break for doing so... I still could argue that he is stingy... but back to the article. It says:
"It’s true that religion is the essential reason conservatives give more, and religious liberals are as generous as religious conservatives. Among the stingiest of the stingy are secular conservatives. According to Google’s figures, if donations to all religious organizations are excluded, liberals give slightly more to charity than conservatives do. But Mr. Brooks says that if measuring by the percentage of income given, conservatives are more generous than liberals even to secular causes."
If the measurement is done based on a percentage of income, then franz's point is a good one... Also, if I give 5 bucks to my brother for Christmas is that a secular cause? ;D If conservatives really do give more to secular causes like Greenpeace, then I'd say that Craig's argument against the super majority takes another hit.
Anyway Hook sucked all of the blood out of this part of the article:
"Conservatives also appear to be more generous than liberals in nonfinancial ways. People in red states are considerably more likely to volunteer for good causes, and conservatives give blood more often. If liberals and moderates gave blood as often as conservatives, Mr. Brooks said, the American blood supply would increase by 45 percent."
Good causes? Blood is good unless your gay, or skinny (under 110 pounds) or sick, or take certain medications, or are "active" sexually, or have been to certain countries, or have spent sometime behind bars, or your Iron (Hemoglobin) isn't exactly there...
