I am a fan of Mahler, particularly the first movement of his 9th Symphony. I am curious, have any modern film composers drawn inspiration from any of Gustav Mahler's works? And if so, where and from where?

I have a couple Mahler symphonies, but I can't remember the last time I listened to one of them...must go back at some point.

Last night was Mahler 1, Blumine and the Wayfarer Song Cycle. (with Richard Strauss's Don Juan filling out the program). It kicked off a year of Mahler concerts for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in fine style. The big one is next week though: MAHLER 8.
