Not to mention it's from the LIBERAL New Yorker magazine! It's all propaganda and lies! If only it could be from a more level-headed, fair and balanced source like Drudge.

It's not an anti-McCain article at all. In fact I found it very balanced.

I know, we're all just kidding you, Yavar. It's a wonderful article and it focuses on humanizing McCain. It was a bit sad. An aside: for some reason, I became a little emotional in this election. First, Biden and his comment about his family (and Palin's completely robotic -er- maverick lack of response) in the debate, Bush becoming emotional when addressing the transition, and thinking about McCain and how, in his words, he has betrayed his own honor. Not that he said that now, but the stuff he did and allowed to happen completely contradict his lifelong beliefs. Very well written, but I guess that scares some people, even though it's a narration and not an opinion piece.

Just click the "view as a single page" link. ;D I liked the article but I wish that there was an Obama companion piece. I should point out that this sentence seemed out of place: "Obama represents a different model of a politician: he is a policy-driven person who tries to pass legislation by uniting interest groups and by creating new majorities for these policies through inspiring rhetoric." Isn't that what traditional Democrats always do, pass legislation by trying to appeal to every interest group out there? (see the "Bail-Out" Bill) It is interesting how every presidential politician has to abandon some of their principles in order to try to get elected. Obama shifted several of his positions to move himself closer to the center, and he also had to move himself away from past acquaintances. The Mc Cain story is fascinating because Mc Cain never really captivated his base. Why is it that Conservatives were unwilling to rally around Mc Cain? Principle-wise, was Mc Cain's voting record "less" conservative than Bush's presidential record? Or was he just too bi-partisan? Anyway, it will be fun to see how he votes in the future. Will Mc Cain stick to his campaign stances? Similarly, will Obama stick to the center. Will he strike down Bush's executive oder that "prohibited taxpayer dollars from being given to international family planning groups that perform abortions and provide abortion counseling"?....

Good article. Doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know, but it summarizes everything quite nicely and in thought-provoking form.
