My advice: Do not see this movie-EVER. Boring, uttlerly underwehlming, no suspense at all,no schocks,no action,no mystery...NOTHING.Biggest Bore i have ever seen on the Big Screen. And the hidden scene in the end credits is just WTF???

It's difficult not to go and see it even if it's crap. When you've seen all 9 seasons it's really hard...

The film opens tomorrow. You saw an advance screening, or just some theater friends letting you see it ahead of release date?
And by "boring" and "no shocks", do you mean it's not action-packed crap like "Transformers" or a horror slasher movie?

I want to believe in the X-files, so I think I'm going to see it anyway.

It sounds the film's marketing campaign -- as if Carter was talking about the audience.

by boring and no shocks i mean this movie had nothing to offer.there were no intersting scenes at all.it lets fight the future look like terminator 2.its like the worst and unintersting episode, and doesn´t feel like x-files.direct-to-dvd.white noise was better.prepare to be bored.

Currently 32% on RottenTomatoes.com. This does not bode well for this film.

Saw the film today. It wasn't vaguely cinematic in any way whatsoever. Duchovny and Anderson seemed bored and uninterested. There was nothing spectacularly bad, but the whole thing was just a bit bland and uneventful, and felt more like a weak episode of the tv show than a movie. If I were a big X-Files fan (I'm not), I would be really irritated if this was all I got after six years of waiting.
Back at ya later

This film is bad enough to kill the X-Files franchise, or at the very least make it very sick. It's truly awful. I'm not a fan of the series at all, but the friend I saw the film with is, and he was pretty pissed off as we were leaving the cinema.

I don't think this film is bad, but it is a decidedly average X-Files "episode." The first part is a bit boring, but certainly gets more interesting about halfway through. Its main weakness is the fact that it is a very intimate film, and in something like that you really need strong supporting characters. All of them except for Scully and Mulder are pretty bland. This film would have worked better had it been released a couple years after the series ended, but since it has been so long, it really needed to be something epic.

I want more on what you people are comparing this against.
Are you comparing it against current Hollywood action flicks?
Did you go in expecting bigger than the first X-Files film?
Were you hoping for something more than the TV series, even if the film on it's own is good?
Are you one of those X-Files weirdo fans that actually think Gish and T2000 were better than Mulder & Scully?
