Esteemed gents, I'm looking for something. I got two CDrs of complete scores, First Knight and the 2-CD Oscar-promo from A.I.. Now, for some reason both these discs play very badly, both on my stereo and my PC. And I don't like to listen to them with my discman. So, who of you decent folks has these two scores and would be willing to trade CDr copies with me? Many Thanks, and an apologetic nod toward you, Michael. Christian

I bet Joe Bat has both of these.

Well, for once, he's not the only one.

Speaking of which...on the First Knight I have (the complete and NOT the expanded), there is a short 20 second track called Gauntlet V (I think that's the right number) where someone shouts out "ass" really loud at the end of the piece. Can anyone else confirm this?

I bet Joe Bat has both of these. Good guess. Also have the "expanded" single disc pressing of First Knight. Joe

Eh? My single disc complete First Knight is no longer complete? This is one score people went mad about, very much to my surprise. So there are loads of different expanded and presumably complete versions around. It's even worse than Predator. IMO the regular album release is more than sufficient.

Except the original album release does not feature Lancelot's Theme at all... Usually, I'm with you Armin, in that owning the 182-minute complete score with every single note written for the movie, alternate versions and outtakes is usually completely unimportant to me. I don't often have the time to listen to a regular 40-min CD, never mind one that is double that length.
However, scores like First Knight (and Mulan and Starship Troopers to give other examples), where significant thematic elements are completely missing from the regular CD, are notable exceptions which I have tracked down. Lancelot's theme rocks!

Yes, it sure does. There is a ton of new material on the complete score release compared to commercial album, most notably Lancelot's theme as you mentioned. But yeah, most expanded releases are the same old stuff or merely added boring underscore, but First Knight is an exception.

I didn't watch the movie, therefore I'm not missing any music, compared to the CD release. ;D It's such a cheesy story it gets boring after a bit. Having read almost all versions of the tale from when I was a kid until now, a movie is the last thing I need. And then one with Richard Geere... cheese cheese chesse...

Eh? My single disc complete First Knight is no longer complete? Hater is referring to a 2CD bootleg of the recording sessions. I own the same version he does (in fact, he originally got it from me), and it is indeed full of goodies like chairs dropping, mumbling from the orchestra, Goldsmith getting annoyed, etc. It's a blast. The same is true of the Small Soldiers and Executive Decision recording session bootlegs. Solid gold!

So can you confirm the part where someone shouts "ass" out loud, Jens? That's what it sounds like to me...

Can't really hear it clearly enough to make a 100% accurate judgement. Might as well be bass, brass, cass, chasse, class, crass, gas, gass, glas, glass, grass, lass, mass, sass...

I think a trombone player dropped his mute and so Goldsmith called him an ass!
