Hi Guys- I need some information about the soundtrack to True Romance. My brother is getting married this coming weekend and he thinks the music he heard while watching the film would be good for what they need (he's a little weird...just go with it ). I've never seen the film, but does the soundtrack CD that was released contain the opening music from the film? If so, which track is it? If not, is there a bootleg available anywhere? If anyone has this CD, please please e-mail me at: brendan@brendananderson.com. I will do everything in my power to make sure it is worth your while. Many thanks!

That piece is actually "Musica Poetica" by Carl Orff, though mysteriously it is credited to Zimmer on the CD and he even included it on his "Wings of a Film" compilation.

So the piece on the Wings of a Film disc is the opening music from the film? Or are you saying I could probably just download the Orff version from iTunes and probably get a better sounding piece of music? ;D

I think he is saying that he doesn't like Hans Zimmer...

No, I like Zimmer!
It's the piece on Wings of a Film you want. I guess if your friend loves it from the movie, he might want the movie performance, so you could download that track off the soundtrack off iTunes.

So what did you mean by that? I took it to mean you were saying that Zimmer ripped off Orf.

So what did you mean by that? I took it to mean you were saying that Zimmer ripped off Orf. Go to Amazon.com, look up Orff's Musica Poetica yourself and havea listen to the sound clips...the similarity of True Romance to Orff's xylophone composition is pretty hilarious. -Brendan p.s. so does anyone out there have the True Romance OST or what?

So what did you mean by that? I took it to mean you were saying that Zimmer ripped off Orf. I didn't think he ripped it off, I thought it was actually the Orff piece that had been used in the film. If you look up Musica Poetica on Google it doesn't take long to find that most sites list it as having been used in Badlands and True Romance.

Tony Scott wanted that Zimmer write a similar piece as a homage to Terrance Mallick's "Badlands", one of Scott's favorite films.

Sorry. I'd like to help you, but I never got around to wasting my money on that one. I thought the track on the Zimmer "Wings" live concert CD blew chunks.
