Well, the thread title is easy enough.
What are your favorite CDs of classical christmas music?
I was listening to a cd earlier called "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" by John Williams and the Boston Pops on Philips which is basically a number of medleys, some with the Tanglewood Chorus, some without....and was wondering what christmas CD's other people listen to?
BTW, I'm also a big fan of instrumental rock of christmas chorals such as Gary Hoey's "Ho! Ho! Hoey" CDs, merry axemas, etc.

Does Home Alone count? I love Home Alone I and II. The Christmas Star is just fantastic. I really don't listen to other Christmas albums but, there are some individual Christmas cues that I love, like "The Christmas Cannon," "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," and Silent Night.

Somewhere in My Memory is obnoxious as hell, but Star of Bethlehem is one of Williams's best themes IMO, and a great Christmas carol...here's a vote for Home Alone!
Setting the Trap is pretty sweet with its interpolation of Carol of the Bells.

Another Home Alone, here, as well as Mircale on 34th Street. I can't really think of any other ones I will (maybe) be listening to.

I also tend to listen to some Trans Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, and Kenny G during the holidays, but the above get a lot of play.
All in all, I have around 23 hours in my Christmas playlist on iTunes.

In a land where it seems just as much like Christmas now as it did in July, the typical Christmas music doesn't have quite the same effect. Therefore, Trans-Siberian Orchestra all the way!

I find myself listening to Home Alone mostly in summertime anyway, so it's not the classic Christmas score. ;D

I love Debney's Elf. It has one of the most infectious main themes of all time!

I have one called Christmastime is Here (Telarc CD80538). It is yet another CD filled with the normal songs save one. The arrangement on "Little Drummer Boy" is fascinating as it is orchestrated like Bolero. www.telarc.com/gscripts/title.asp?gsku=0538 Just scroll down and give #7 a listen.

I fucking hate Christmas music. I guess I would pick the Nightmare before Christmas, but it's not classical. Let's just say I hate Christmas music.

Well, I guess I am definitely in the minority yet again! I like the Nutcracker Suite, all of it. I have 7 different recordings of it, have seen the ballet many times and think it was an incredible effort on the part of Tchaikovsky.
