Is anyone going on Friday 13th or Saturday 14th?
In what has become an expensive yearly excursion, I'll be there.

Hell yeah I'll be there! I am going to be there on Saturday the 14th and I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am. This is my first concert of this type ever (film music AND big huge symphony), and it may be my last for a while too. Not too many of this type in MT, sadly which is why I am making the most of my time in CA this summer.
I am spending the day in Hollywood checking out the Walk of Fame and the sights like that and then the concert that night. I am staying in Hollywood (which is shady, I know. Oh well) that night. Uber fun.

Damn it! I wish I lived in California. I really, really do. And they keep showing me that commercial with Clint Eastwood and Bruce Willis and all those other celebrities saying "Come to California!", just to tease me.
*sighs wistfully*
Back at ya later

I still might try and get a job in California when I graduate. I knew some guy who is really good and recently took a job for there 40k (dont know why he went so low), so maybe I can find something similar (albeit more money). If not, then I definently want to travel to CA or Europe or Spain or wherver to see some huge film music concert!

Northern California is the place to be.

What cities are around there? The only area I am familiar with is the area around Orange Country, where I have relatives. I don't even know if Orange Country is LA or what....how far is OC from Hollywood?

Oh, it's pretty close. Two totally different places, of course.
Northern California has Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Jose (technology capital of the world), and most importantly: San Francisco. I'm a bit biased since I'm from there, but I don't think Southern California is anywhere near as beautiful as Northern.

I drive down there every weekend this summer and I really don't see how they make differences in the cities. It is all one GIANT city. It just takes forever to get from say Hollywood or Valencia to Newport or Irvine. But I see it all as "LA." Maybe that's just me.

Here is the program for the concert (note that there is at least one problem I spotted with the text above the program in relation to Superman Returns). www.laphil.com/press/press_detail.cfm?id=2005Very cool stuff. I am so glad he is doing Superman!

I went to the rehearsal this morning and *finally* managed to meet Mr. Williams and obtain his autograph.
The encores (not listed on the program) are The Imperial March, Sayuri's Theme, Flying and the Raiders March.

Does he do any type of meet and greet afterward? I would doubt it, but it would be neat if he did! Scratch that, it would be phantasmagorical.

If you really want the geographical rundown, here's the skinny: Southern California, basically, is five counties: Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and Ventura County (where I live) - I'm excluding San Diego, which is south of LA, and Santa Barbara, which is north of LA. Orange County includes the cities of Anaheim (where Disneyland is), Santa Ana, Irvine and so on... Riverside County has the cities of Riverside, Moreno Valley, and so on... San Bernardino County has the cities of San Bernardino, Fontana, Ontario... and Ventura County has the cities of Ventura, Oxnard, and Thousand Oaks. Within the COUNTY of Los Angeles is the CITY of Los Angeles... but in addition to the City of LA, the County also has LOTS of other cities - Beverly Hills, Malibu, Santa Monica, Long Beach, Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, Carson, Compton, etc etc. Hollywood itself (where the Walk of Fame, the Hollywood sign, and all tgat jazz is located) is NOT a separate city, but a neighborhood within the CITY of Los Angeles. However, West Hollywood IS a separate city, in between the neighborhood of Hollywood and the city of Beverly Hills. Similarly, the San Fernando Valley is NOT a separate city, but is made up of lots of smaller districts, all within both the city and county of Los Angeles. With me so far? Just to confuse things further, all five counties - basically the entire urban conurbation from Ventura in the far north, down to San Juan Capistrano in the far south, and inland to San Bernardino, can all be colloquially referred to as "LA", or "the Southland", or "Southern California", normally by people who are not from here and don't know the actual distinctions. And there you have it! I'll be setting a paper for you all later...

Damn. I forgot about the rehearsal. Guess I'll go next year.
I will be at the concert tomorrow night, though, if anyone wants to meet up!

I'll be there tonight. I am about to take off to get down there and check out Hollywood for the day (the Walk of Fame and so on). I don't know how anyone wants to meet up or where to meet, as I have no clue what this place will be like.
