Well, as a couple of you know I'm moving very soon and to get a new L.A. apartment I need to come up with more cash for a housing security deposit. This means that for pretty much the first time in my life, I must sell some of my collection. I've watched some of my friends here have to do it (Jon AKA Smalltown Poets), and though I don't have as lofty intentions for the money, as, say, SCHOOL, I still need a place to sleep and house my film and film score collection.
Rather than taking my chances with Ebay (I will if I have to), I'd rather sell these prized possessions to friends who I know will appreciate and take care of them. It can also speed up the process because if I reach an agreement with anyone on these I'll mail out the CD even before I get payment for it (partly because I trust people here, and partly because if I do get ripped off -- I KNOW WHERE YOU POST )
So here's the painful list:
The Towering Inferno (Williams) -- yes, the rarest of the rare from FSM which has sold on Ebay for hundreds of dollars. My copy's in absolutely mint condition (I played it to copy it and put it back in a protective seal). I personally don't care for the score much but many love it.
QB VII (Goldsmith) -- one of his best scores which went out of print a few years ago and is now pretty hard to find
A Patch of Blue (Goldsmith) -- ditto, and yes as a Goldsmith fan I am loathe to part with these
The Land Before Time (Horner) -- I got this like seven years ago from Amazon for 7.99 and I can't believe the prices I've seen it sell for in the past year. You probably all have it too but if anyone still needs it...
For Your Consideration Oscar promos for Carter Burwell's Adaptation (I think the same score content as the commercial release) and Randy Newman's Monsters Inc. (which is quite different from the commercial release, featuring more score and in individual cues rather than suites (it's 57 tracks).
I also have a few CDs that are still sealed (in a couple cases because I bought an extra at the time of release, in other cases because I got a CDr from a friend and never got around to opening my own copy):
Ghostbusters (Bernstein) sealed Varese Club release
An Almost Perfect Affair (Delerue) sealed Varese Club release
The Escape Artist (Delerue) sealed Percepto release (their fastest OOP title I think)
The Omega Man (Grainer) rare FSM release (sold out almost as fast as Towering Inferno and now also goes for hundreds of dollars -- I got this for buying 20 FSM CDs once in a special promotion they had; I already owned the CD though so I've got this extra sealed copy)
Knight Rider (Phillips) OOP FSM release
That's all I think of for now, but I may find some more stuff. If anyone can afford to help me out you can get yourself some genuine rarities from my collection. That is, if anyone else has any money left after the glut of amazing score releases we've been getting lately. I once swore I'd never sell my collection but times are tough now and I gotta do it...
